I've been going to the Dowtown Y for over a year now and I love it! The variety of equipment and number of squat racks is greatly appreciated. This gym brings people from all over the area and it's amazing bringing everyone together for one common goal. The only reason it's so crowded is because of how much everyone likes to go there!

This was the first time I've ever been afraid of getting Covid. The place was crowded and no one had on masks. Sweating and spitting everywhere. I know they're trying to sanitize but there's no way they can protect you from what you breathe in.

This is my go-to Y in Wichita. All of the employees are awesome, Very friendly and helpful. Always working hard to keep the place neat, clean and organized. The recent renovation is amazing. Very high end locker rooms, equipment, etc. And they took customer feedback into consideration and added more squat racks and another deadlift platform! As squats, deadlifts and presses are regular exercises for me, this is greatly appreciated! My only complaint is that it can be a little crowded and some of the patrons can be inconsiderate, but that happens at every gym - not the fault of this Y branch. Overall - two thumbs up!

Wow, this is quite possibly the nicest YMCA, and one of the nicest overall gyms, I have ever been to. Big, beautiful, clean. Nice staff. Large lap pool and equally big kiddy pool. Huge weight room with tons of barbells, including an olympic lifting platform with bumper plates. Rowing machines. Clean and spacious locker rooms. The list goes on. I HIGHLY recommed it!

This YMCA is brand-new as of December 2012 - a MUCH needed renovation/addition to downtown Wichita. It's a HUGE building and parking is extremely limited - right now the only parking is a small lot on the Broadway side of the building. Hopefully they have plans to expand the parking because it's frustrating. The locker rooms/restrooms are on the 1st floor, and everything else is on the 3rd floor so you can either take the elevator or walk up two flights of stairs.Like all YMCAs, this one offers a variety of cardio and weights equipment, an 8-lane lap pool (yeah yeah!), group exercise classes (yoga, spin, step, pump, etc.) and an indoor track, among other things. The equipment is new and so are the locker rooms and other amenities.

The reasons I'm giving this low rating is because a lot of the time I come to the Y I cannot get a handicap parking spot. Instead, I see people coming out of cars with their basketballs. They are usually very young and appear to have no problem walking or breathing. Also. Lots of cars parked in handicap spots do not have a handicap license plate or placard displayed.Another reason for the low rating is that I see people parking in the Y lot and then going across the street to the courtFinally, there is a female who is supposed to clean the women'5s locker room, etc but prefers to spend her cleaning time on the phone and discussing members with other staff members within hearing distance of the person she is talking about.

today, my twin autistic children were denied from the pool because they were at capacity with one lifeguard. I understand being at capacity, but they also had another lifeguard doing a one on one swim lesson. when the manager talk to me who was in charge of the pool area she said there was no one else that they could bring because they were not swim certified. Question, how can a manager of the pool not be swim certified sounded to me like she was being lazy. my son's autism is so severe that he's self harms and I tried to explain this to them. they had no reaction, and also did not care at all. My son was punching himself in the face the whole way back to the car so severely that it caused him to bleed all at the same time I'm trying hold on to dear life to my daughter. This is not the way to treat handicapped people and I'm severely disappointing.

Really upset with the service rules today. My partner (Who is Australian) and I have been living overseas for the past year. The gyms there don't require you to have any sort of I.D. or require to run a background check for you to take a freakin' yoga class?I had mentioned to my partner that the lockers at the YMCA require you to bring your own locks so we won't have a locker to put our stuff in as we are visiting. So we refrained from bringing our IDs. First of all- If you ran a background check for any U.S. history on someone who is from Australia- you're not going to find anything. Second of all, who the heck requires a background check to take a freakin' yoga class????Unbelievable.
