Rene’s Mexican Restaurant

This place is neat! The dining area and the gender neutral restroom are clean and tidy. Service was quick and food was excellent. I ordered the quesabirria and horchata. The tacos were hot and tasty. I didn't even need the consommé as the tacos were flavorful by themselves. They came with 4 in a plate, filled with meat and gooey cheese. I had to give one to Chris as it was a lot for me! The horchata was refreshing!

I won't lie, aside from Texas, California, and Mexico itself-- the best fast casual Mexican restaurants I have had are probably in Kansas City where I grew up and the Hispanic population is large. I've had to change my expectations a bit moving to Wichita. That being said-- one of the better breakfast burritos in town. Ratios of bacon, egg, and potato were overall even and the bacon was crisp and tasty. I say a solid 7. I find way too many of these establishments put really large chunks of thick bacon-- almost more ham-like and it's basically chewing through shoe leather with the flavor over powering the burrito itself. But not Rene's thankfully. I wish I could speak to their hot sauce. My delivery order came with none which I feel is a small travesty. I'll reserve judgment for now but the mass majority of the hot sauces I've had in town have heat but lack flavor and are just very one note acidic heat. The tortilla was good--- a little chewier than I would have liked but I think that is just a sign of the dough being overworked. Beans were 6.5 and rice was 6.8. I really don't have any true complaints about Rene's. I've had better, I've had worse and honestly it quenched my Sunday morning breakfast craving just fine.

Average food. We thought it would be more of a restaurant than a fast food restaurant. First clue should have been they have a drive thru window. Order at the counter and they call your number when the food is ready. The food is OK but we wouldn't drive across town to eat here. Staff is friendly.

Avoid this rip off. Another terrible overpriced rude Mexican joint with no flavor on West street. Everything is bad.. food, attitude, guacamole is cheap store bought garbage. Their hot sauce is in plastic packets probably bought at Costco. Their "service" doesn't exist at all. Stick to the 21st & Broadway area if you want any decent Mexican.

Food is pretty good. Haven't ever had a bad experience with service. Great for late night eats. Good environment.

That Colorado burrito though. Hot. Fast. And delicious. Hit the spot after a late night run. Staff was super friendly and I was satisfied with my care.

I highly recommend Rene's Mexican Restaurant. you get what you pay for. And the Super Nachos are the best

had been a long time since i went to rene's for food , so i decided to get a breakfast burrito sausage , egg and cheese , in the past , they were very good , but today after getting the food , it was so greasy , ii couldn't even touch it without getting grease all over my shirt and my hands , it was squirting all over everything , really sad

The food at Rene's is always excellent. The service is good when we go in. But the girl at the drive thru is VERY rude and will nickel and dime your order. For example, tonight, I asked for some sour cream on my chicken enchiladas. I was charged $1.50 for what amounted to a teaspoon of sour cream! I attached a pic of the receipt, it's listed as xtra. You can also see the amount of sour cream I got for my money. You're supposed to get sauces with your meal, but she also charged me $2.20 for a small cup of pico de gallo. This isn't the first time she's done this. On a previous visit I ordered rice and beans with the chicken enchiladas, the price went from $5.79 to $14.89! Just for rice and beans. There are lots of great Mexican food restaurants, taco trucks, etc in Wichita that are friendly and generous.

Great food 90% of the time. Sometimes the refried beans are watered down and are pretty gross but most of the time they are very good.
