Professor's Classic Sandwich Shop & More

Such a cute place! It's off the main roads in Hays. We were driving thru and decided to stop for lunch. Looks like it would be great to host a reception...which may have been happening in what looked like a banquets/party room? Hubs had the BLT, kiddo had the grilled cheese & tomato soup special, and I had the Cuban. Not the best Cuban I've had - I think a Cuban should have a bit more ooze to it, and I thought this was on the dry side - but hubs said the BLT was on point. Served with a dill pickle spear and chips. And the lemonade was really interesting! Apparently, this place revolves around a local honey farm? The lemonade was honey-lemonade. A surprising flavor at first, but. Wry pleasing once we realized what it was.

Just a delightful place, with yummy food, good service and fresh honey and mushrooms for sale. What else could you need? Recommended!

Very nice little eating facility. Had a the lunch special for the day which was great. Very economical as well. I enjoyed the homemade cookie they give with the sandwich. Staff were great and had great recommendations.

The sandwiches are wonderful, although whoever made ours was not paying attention to detail. I ordered one specific sandwich because I was looking forward to the garlic sauce, which it had no sauce at all on it and no taste of garlic whatsoever. Otherwise it was a great sandwich. And I've never seen a sandwich shop that does not serve any type of soft drink. Don't try the honey lemonade, it's sweet and has a really weird taste. I love, honey and I love lemonade, but they don't belong together. It is a great place to buy local honey product though!

My sandwich was good & a normal size. A couple of my friends sandwich choices were extremely small for the price. None of our group of 6 cared for the cookies.

Local gem located not too far off of I70. You park in the lot behind the house and step inside to a welcoming sandwich shop. Order at the counter in the back and they bring food to your table. Menu is on the wall and they also sell local honey and mushrooms!

Stopped here on our way from KC to Denver for lunch. They grow their own mushrooms in the basement and have bees they collect honey from. The Mushroom Taco Salad was delicious. The Regulator was good. I asked for a second glass of Arnold Palmer to go, it was so good! Great service and very friendly! We will stop again when we are in Hays!

This is a quaint little place tucked into a residential area but is 2 miles from I70 so not right off the interstate just FYI. The residential area is a bit sketch but ample parking. The 5 star reviews are confusing and wonder what peoples foody experiences are to have such high marks. The Cobb salad had fresh ingredients and a small is plenty for one person. We called in our order for pick up on our drive they and while the order was correct the cookie was missing. Odd that when we picked up the order were told by the waitress., "and there's a cookie in there too!"We didn't need a cookie so no loss. The menu states, "French bread" for the sandwich we ordered. Never seen French bread look like this as it appeared more like toasted Wonder White bread. The sandwich was pathetic with very small amount of meat and not filling . The garlic bread that came with the salad was more of the same bread and got tossed. Overall, it wasn't at all what we expected based on reviews and menu descriptions. We'd not come back when driving thru again.

Pro: always friendly! The food is delicious and I love the cookie I get at the end of my meal. Fun family dinning tables in a well lit room. Cons: the hours, I wish they could be open for dinner.

Great food, sandwich was delicious! Cute spot with lots of things to look at. Love the local honey items.
