Poplar Restaurant

For normal every day, kind of home cook comfort food type meals. This place is really good. Most of the patrons are of the older generation like me if you get there between five and 630 you're going to wait for a table they also do a wonderful lunch the inside of the restaurant is Nice clean but nothing special which is OK for just a hey I'm hungry. Let's go get something to eat meal.

Very good food with traditional basics and not a lot of flash. But that is good. Their pizza is legendary.

It's a three because the food was good and the lady that waited on us was an all star. CouldOf been a 4 star review but Prior to being seated the staff had enough attitude to earn an old fashioned "B-slap." So to start we decided to have an early dinner Saturday evening. We had heard alot of positive feedback regarding the food and to be honest the food was quite good. We shared a poplar 3 app (fried okra, cauliflower and mushrooms). For dinner I had the chicken fried steak and my sister had the Italian "loafer". Our waitress which I believe her name was Angie saved the night as I wanted to walk out twice based on the way we were treated when we arrived. I'd suggest you get a hostess that can manage the front of your restaurant. The teenager had folks stacked up waiting to be seated when there was plenty of open seating on both sides. When we asked if we need to give someone our name when we arrived the waitress we asked (long sandy brown hair and her eyes were set close together). Her responce was that there was and she was cleaning tables so people had places to sit. Than once the teen with the pissy attitude made it back up front she had to organize the menus as if they were first day editions. I told my sister that if the "see you next Tuesday" waitress that shot me lip was our waitress we were leaving. Luckily this is when the visit made a complete 180. Our waitress was kind, attentive and did an outstanding job. As I said the food was a close second to the waitress. Going forward we may return but it will be probably be for carry out.

The meat supreme pizza is amazing and their crust is soo goood! Even the kids ate it! Giving 4 stars because the regular supreme pizza we ordered was just alright. The veggies tasted like they came from a can and were not fresh.

Tried it once. Gross and the service was horrible. They were not even busy. Staff acted like it was a chore to get a refill on a drink

Someone had recommended the Philly Cheesesteak and I've been craving one so I got one today. They have a sandwich and a loaf. I decided to get the loaf. It was good, I liked the baked bread. I liked the dressing (which is on the side with the loaf) but not with the loaf. I'm thinking Alfredo sauce or marinara might be better with it.

We keep getting back because there aren't so many things on the menu to try,This is our 4th or 5th visit,..Think we areGoing to be regulars!

Love the variety on the menu! The staff is always very friendly and the food is always very good!

Visited poplar for the first time this evening, the service was so SLOW. The restaurant was not very busy when we arrived yet still took over 30 min for our food. We ordered a small pizza and a kids burger and fries. The food was good golly kick it up a notch. ps I am not the only one complaining. A man called in take out and waited over an hour for his dinner.

Never understood the allure. We have taken the family based on rave reviews from friends. We are like are we even at the rice restaurant? It's bar food, nothing crazy. Fair at best.
