Phil's Coins and Bullion

Just a short review here.It was a great experience I needed to check on a coin to see a coins estimated value....or better to say it's authenticity...I was fairly convinced it wasn't valuable but since it came out of an estate sale I wanted to make sure....they were extremely helpful and polite... I would for sure use them in the future.

This is a small coin shop. It has an "old school" type feeling about it, which I like. The good: An older man assisted me. He was friendly and provided knowledgeable and helpful service. I made a small purchase from him. The not-so good: There was another person working in the store, a man in his late 40s or 50s. He is not very personable. He may have been having a bad day or maybe a bad years. I'll go back to this place but will avoid the younger man and deal with the older guy.

My husband and I are coin collectors. We go to Phil's a couple of times a month. He is honest and has integrity. His prices are good, much better than anyone else in the area. We highly recommend this shop.

I was gifted a bag of junk silver dimes and some uncirculated silver dollars. This was my first time ever dealing with such items. I first called a few locations to see what I needed to know about what I had. Phil's was my first call. The woman that answered the phone was very helpful and walked me through the process to a limited extent. I was satisfied with her customer service and appreciated the information. I was told they would be closed the week of New Years for inventory. I thanked her for the information so that I didn't show up to a closed location. I went into the store today. They had several people in the store and I waited patiently for my turn. The person helping me was a woman and I assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that it was the same woman I talked to on the phone. I pulled out my coin, explained what I had, and had even went so far as to put each year of coin in a separate baggy since the receipt in the bag suggested I had 2500 pieces of circulated dimes dating before 1964. I suggested that I was only interested in getting a value on the Roosevelt dimes and would hold on to the 150 pcs of mercury and barber dimes. She grabbed all of the Roosevelt baggies then took them out of sight to be counted. Upon return she suggested that the actual count of Roosevelt dimes was 911 short from my calculations. I have no way of knowing how the difference came to be since the counter was out of my eyesight. She then proceeded to give me the dollar amount of coins counted instead of unit numbers as I had been referencing my coin. I was trying hard to understand how she came up with the value since the receipt stated the bag contained 2500 pcs. Once we converted the dollar amount, I realized that 911 dimes were now in dispute. Is it possible the receipt was wrong? Sure. Is it possible that the person that gave me the dimes, removed some? Sure. But the fact that I wasn't able to witness the counting of the coins, put a sour taste in my mouth over the whole transaction. She expressed frustration when I tried to ask questions so that I could make sense of it all. I was never short or curt with her but that didn't stop her. I will not recommend this location even after having great customer service during my phone call a week or more ago. I felt like I just left a car dealership and was being scammed.

I like looking for coins of foreign nations & this is the only place where you can find them and the proper things to stick them in!

2 month ago I Brought in to sell a ms70 silver eagle NGC- 25th Anniversary-early release coins - guy work there offer me $135-So I called today and they quoted me $122 - so I told it there and another worker offer me just $35 dollars - 7s dealers/sellers on eBay prices for -$250 to $339- is the sameExactly coin and grade-I have recommended many of my customers to them all these years- not any more- heartland coins and Gold coins llc is more truthful business and honest - after Phip left the business - it is total trash now.....don't go there if you don't want to get scam- I guess $100 of profit of 1Coin- is not enough for them- greedy as hell

After my husband's death, I took silver 1/2 dollars and silver dollars to Phil's Coins. There was only one other person there. When Phil came over to see what I was wanting, he spoke in profanity more than I'm used to from business men and/or women. He low-balled the amount coins were worth. I would not recommend this place or person. I felt disrespected and under-appreciated.

Awesome store. Good supply and Phil helped me diversify my portfolio. Very knowledgeable and patient.

I went to Phil's for the first and last time this week. I was there to sell old jewelry for scrap. An older gentleman was helping me go through my stuff at that machine, and later another customer came in to sell her old jewelry too. So another man, one that I took to be the owner, helped her at the counter right next to us. He made rude comments about taking too long. Never mind that his customer was doing the exact same thing I was! I guess that somehow she was more worthy than me. But the worst part was that he riffed off of my conversation with the man who was helping me. He made belittling and terribly rude comments to his customer, or maybe the world at large, to things that I said. I clearly was aware of this as it was happening, but I ignored it and considered it beneath me to stoop to his level. So I didn't say anything. And then when we finally finished up, the gentleman who had helped me made snotty comments about how most people drop stuff off and come back later for their totals. This was never presented to me as an option! I had never done that before and don't know how I was supposed to know that. I let all of this go at first, but it has bothered me enough since that I feel like I need to post a review. I will never go back. I will go to the place on the east side from now on.
