From out of town - we showed up at JD's at 9:25 and breakfast ended at 9:30. They weren't willing to serve us so we ended up at Oscar's! This was such a delightful experience and a pleasant surprise!

We had a sausage egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, a lemon blueberry scone, a yogurt parfait, and a smoothie. Some might say the scone was more like cake, but that's fine by me. Would pick their scone over a dry scone any day. Everything was good. Washed it down with a couple of lattes. Sat outside and watched the trucks go by. Great spot for a tasty, quick bite.

Drove 30 miles from Hill City and got there at 12:15 just to find out that they were closed and changed their hours. Unsure if the hours were changed due to shortage of staff or just not beneficial to be open during slower times. Was greeted at the door by someone and told that they had just change their hours and weren't serving at the time.

Great coffee (careful if you don't like flavors, but there were definitely coffees that were uncompromised), decent pastries, and really friendly locals who were glad to tell us about Oscar's history and snap our pic with him. (Definitely a him!)

I don't visit often because their prices are extremely high for small town, and the lady behind the counter was very very rude. We don't live in a 10,000 populace city, we live in a 1,200 populace town. - Though I will not be back.I had my 3 year old daughter with me, she asked for a hot chocolate. Instead of simply making a small hot chocolate, I was berated by the cashier (who also makes the drinks) as to if that was appropriate for my daughter at 2 in the afternoon on a 70 degree day.My small cup of basic cappuccino with 1 shot espresso cost me $7.50; and the cashier/barista didn't put in my espresso shot. I told her she forgot the shot and she told me I didn't know what I was talking about. I asked her to remake it, she said no.When we sat down with our drinks the cashier/barista kept giving us a dirty look. My daughter wanted to look at the posters they have hanging by the stairs. As we were looking, she took three or four steps up the stairs and the cashier/barista began yelling at her "Get off the stairs - NOW! and DO NOT go up them again!" I was standing right there watching her climb the steps so I could tie her shoe. I told the cashier to not yell at my daughter and she told me to get out.So, basically I was overcharged for a drink that was made incorrectly. Ostracized for giving my daughter a hot chocolate. My daughter was screamed at for walking up a few steps so I could tie her shoe. And then kicked out because I told her to never yell at my child again.(Oh, and the Scott F. review - that's the owner.)
