Nuway Crumbly Burgers

Always good to get a Nu-way whenever I'm back in Wichita. Brings fond childhood memories!

I haven't had a NuWay for years since moving away. Let me tell you, it hasn't changed a bit. The burgers are great as are the fries and onion rings.

Tried NuWay for the first time. Although the Bacon Cheddar NuWay was good, the burger meat could use a little bit more salt. The onion rings could be less greasy, but was still good. The root beer was also pretty good and worth coming back for more.

Before you try it, please note the descriptor in the name: crumbly. That's exactly what they are. Ten percent of the "burger" ends up on the table, but what makes it into your mouth is interesting.These burgers come with pickles and mustard, a German flair similar to classic Texas burgers. Too vinegary for my taste. So I keep a blob of ketchup in the basket for dipping, but the crumbly texture makes that difficult.The onion rings are excellent, so I recommend swapping out fries for rings if you're ordering a combo. And why wouldn't you? The combo includes a giant frosted mug of their home-made root beer, which they'll top off for free, and that alone is reason enough to give Nuway a try.It's not my new favorite burger, but I can see the appeal.

Nuway was a place I was told to try because it is significant the area. This review is tough because I was impressed with some things but other things I wasn't. I would say Nuway is to Wichita what Waffle House is to Georgia. It is something you have to do when in the area. When we went I was (ignorantly) surprised when the burger was literally crumbly. It reminded me of a sloppy joe without the sauce. I, personally, was not a fan. We got curly fries and they tasted very fresh! It's possible they cut their fries in house. Lastly they have old school root beer in frosted mugs! It's delicious. So good my wife and actually went back for root beer floats on our short stay in Wichita. Overall I give it 3 stars.

I was so surprised. This place is great. A little tradition in the middle of Wichita. The burgers were good. The crumbles stick together if you have cheese. If not then you have to scoop them back in. The onion rings were sensational! Fries were very good. Root beer was nostalgically wonderful! Service was friendly and quick. And the cute little dinning room was right out of a 1950's movie.

As always, the NuWay burger and root beer were amazing! And John, who served us, was very friendly and kept our root beer full. A great experience at a Wichita icon!

Stopped in for the first time in a while. It's still exactly the same. Crumbly is still better! And if you like garlic, the garlic salad is delicious! Glad some things don't change!

Was very disappointed when we went to NuWay a couple of weeks ago. The new owners definitely do not have the original recipe figured out. The menu has changed. My husband always has the chilli and he said it wasn't good at all. The sandwich meat was dry and crumbly, not nice and moist at all. The coating on the onion rings was mostly off and they were extremely greasy. Only thing that was like the original NuWay was the root beer, still great, the only reason I gave them a 2. Would not recommend.

The food was, as always, consistently delicious. I got the combo and substituted garlic salad for the fries. I never had it before and was pleasantly surprised! It was so good. The 2 guys waiting on customers were very attentive and had me laughing. They were fast and efficient, too. I would highly recommend.
