Newton YMCA

Clean. Has everything you could ever need. The pool is empty in the mornings. Hot tub is nice & clean as is the ladies changing rooms.

I hate to do it but I have to revise my first review. Things are going down hill at the Newton Y. Maybe the problems are due to COVID or maybe that is just the excuse that is being used. Lack of staff - especially on weekends, cranky staff, broken equipment, dirty equipment, etc.

Worked in the newton area several years ago. This YMCA was brand new, absolutely great facility. Clean and great equipment.

The Y offers a variety of options to improve your overall health. I just started classes there about a month ago and am enjoying the whole experience. The staff and instructors are extremely caring, friendly and encouraging. I am grateful we have this resource in Newton.

Management can't figure out how to get the place open in the morning. Way too many times, myself and other members have stood outside waiting for the doors to be unlocked way past opening time, including this morning. Usually people start getting disgusted and leaving after about 15 minutes because this happens often enough that they know their morning is now completely screwed up. I have watched 8 people drive away completely pissed off while writing this review. As always, there's YMCA staff standing outside with us but they aren't allowed to have a key. Apparently they show up too reliably to merit a key. The director has personally promised me this would never happen again earlier this year and I believe this is the 3rd time it's happened since. Five more people have driven away now. My day is now screwed up because I don't have any more time for this BS.
