This is a place that you don't stumble upon. Tucked away in a small shop this is a place that you search for, that calls to you, that you have to try.Delicious fried okra, fried pickles, fried mushrooms. Simple foods that are hard to find done right are done to perfection. Fried shrimp that is so good you don't need cocktail sauce or anything else to muddy up the flavor. The food is not the only taste of heaven Nanny's has to offer. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and I even left with a "Thank you Baby" that made me feel more like I was leaving a friend's house than a restaurant. Start your journey, find Nanny's. Give your soul the sustenance it needs in today's unforgiving world.

Was passing through town and craving some home cooked soul food. And boy did this hit the spot. You don't find many of these gems in Kansas. I would definitely recommend!

OMG!!!!! My daughter and I were finally able to go try Nanny's Soulfood last night and it did not disappoint! We picked it up to-go, and it was difficult to not dig in on the way home, with the delicious aroma of her amazing food tempting us!!! We ordered the Wings and the Tilapia, with sides of mac & cheese, sweet potato, greens, and okra...needless to say, we devoured it! And the cornbread that was included with our meals was AH-FRICKING-MAZING...melt in your mouth good!!! We will most definitely be back, and I intend on trying everything on that menu...not all st once of course, LOL! But I will try a new item every time, knowing full well it will taste perfectly scrumptious!!! Seriously, it brought back such sweet memories from when we lived in the south, and of my husband's momma's cooking. Bless you Nanny's Soulfood for sharing your talent of cooking with Topeka!!! And yes, we felt perfectly comfortable and safe with all COVID restrictions being complied with in her restaurant!BRAVO!!

Not very friendly at all to white people. Walked in and Peaches, the cashier, as well as everyone in the kitchen stopped and was just staring. Asked Peaches, a few questions and she couldn't make eye contact and was too interested in having conversation with what appeared to be either friends or family members whom were already in their eating. As I was waiting I looked down on the floor and saw a small cockroach crawling on the floor. I definitely will say, the environment of this kitchen isn't very clean and definitely needs a more welcoming approach in the aspect of personalities as well as by atmosphere. It is a very run down place. The food was ok, nothing to brag about nor go back to, especially for the price and the amount given, not worth it. They have a sign that is about refusing service to rude customers, yet, manners and presenting a good professional restaurant attitude by far wasn't present. You do not get greeted when you walk in like just about everywhere else. I was taught staring was rude, I still carried myself with manners and respectfully regardless. But will be highly surprised if this place will last. Doesn't appear to me they have the right mindset to make this restaurant into a growing business. I'd have to strongly believe a huge portion of all the reviews I have read is only from mainly friends & family. But not having the right mindset towards others of another race, isn't going to get anyone very far when running a business. I have worked in the Restaurant business, as well as catering at Starlight Theatre in KCMO, and I'm wondering just how they pass their Inspections. Everything needs to change here. Having the rude customer sign was too me, a notification to let you know they love to throw down & be in control. Every place has the right to refuse service but to hand write it on a piece of paper just goes to say a lot more about those running the place. Everyone, both workers & customers, should be courteous & respectful to each other, so no need to display such a sign. You do not see other places displaying such signs. I should have just walked out, the minute I walked in, cause this by far is not a very friendly, welcoming, clean, restaurant. The Roaches need to be handled and this place needs to shutdown for a few days & thoroughly clean and get new benches, tables, & chairs to make it a much more presentable environment for others to want to eat food from there. But they truly need to work on a more welcoming/inviting approach to all races, friendliness is not given to those whom are white. Definitely will not go back. Doesn't have the right business ethics, it truly was like walking into a strangers house that is not clean whatsoever and everyone stopping & staring like your at the wrong place, getting food and leaving.

I'm gonna keep it real for the price this place is not worth it. The soul food places in Topeka is limited so this place will do. I had the Mac & cheese. Sweet potatoes and catfish nugget. The portions are so small I can not stress how ridiculously overpriced the food is for the amount you get. The food taste okay not the best but not the worst. Do not look to get full unless your going to pay for extra sides, the meals are more of a snack in my opinion.

Nannies is sooo fire and they deserve atleast four stars but this is the second time I have been to nannies and they are not open, when Google says they should be open... very disappointing, especially if u had it dead set in your mind and live across town..

While low on atmosphere, the taste is out of this world. I'm a southern boy who appreciates Nanny's way of cooking. I highly recommend the fried catfish for beginners. The collard greens are perfect. Makes me miss grandma it's so good

I like to visit the local mom and pop restaurants. I especially like to help promote them with positive reviews. But when the product is bad I cant. This place was disappointing. What you get when compared to the value is absolutely insane. They need to have a better food service model. The food was just okay. Which is fine. Bur the prices are insanely overpriced considering what you receive

The food was DELICIOUS!!! I was not disappointed at all!!! The owner was real nice, and so were the workers!They have a nice variety on the menu!The shop just opened so the dine in area wasn't really it BUT y'all there for the food and I'm always down to support a local business!!! 100/10 WILL GO AGAIN!!! Thank you for the food!!!
