Note the hatchet!

It was a decent open space in the city with lush AstroTurf. People were walking through and sitting around, eating meals, and relaxing. It was just a quick stop for us to let the dog walk a bit, but there are plenty of businesses nearby and an event center. There wasn't a playground or bathroom, but there was a stage for concerts.

I would have rated Nafzger park five stars a few years ago. Unfortunately the city destroyed what was charming, beautiful little park and turned it into a very bland, boring, generic piece of ground. There was a nice little stream, A nice shelter, and beautiful trees. Now, it's just open ground. Very disappointing.

"Because Jesus drank water-Not Whiskey" - The Carry A. Nation memorial drinking fountain is here ! She was the most famous radical member of The Woman's Christian Temperance Union, who believed in "promoting her viewpoint through vandalism" and described herself as "a bulldog running along at the feet of Jesus, barking at what He doesn't like". She busted up the bar at the speakeasy in the Eden Hotel across the street from the park with her famous hatchet and it's even carved in the memorial "as a visual reminder to stay sober or else". Somebody with a sense of humor, opened a saloon right across from the park called John Barleycorn's. Cool little park, right in the middle of downtown Wichita, it's a great place to sit and read.

This is a very beautiful park. It would look so much better if the city would do more with it however. There are several tables and benches in the park for those looking for a nice place to have a small wedding. The city does need to pick up some trash, trim the bushes, cut the grass and repair or replace the tables. All in all it is a very nice park in Old Town Wichita.

We visited this park in order to see the Carrie Nation fountain. The fountain was pretty cool, and the park seemed well-kept. A family group was having their photos taken (professionally) in the park while we were there, perhaps proving that this is one of the only decent-looking places in Wichita.

It's a neat little park. Unfortunately, there have been more and homeless folks at the park. I don't them mind at all, but the urine is starting to smell in places around the park and behind the businesses on the east side of the park. The Mayors park near the Epic Center is horrifying. Trash and feces everywhere. I used to walk through. Now I walk away. Why can't this get cleaned up?

Right in the heart of Old Town, one of my favorite places to get some fresh air and sit in the sun.

I loved this little park. Until everything was ripped out and replaced with... nothing. Literally. Now there's no shade, no trees, just open blank space. Lovely place to sit in the sweltering hot sun if that's your thing.

This is a beautiful little park, and as someone with the mind of a photographer, it would be a great place to do photo shoots and hang out. But there is way too many "Bums" who come to sleep and rest for the day, and makes it very sketchy to do so. It's definitely not kid friendly anymore, but it's not a safe place to bring a small family. I wish the local authorities would do a better job of making it a safe place for families and for solo photographers.
