Food: 3/5 Medium, that is how I would describe this experience. Some of the food was good, and some was just ok. My husband liked his Chicken Karrage and he paid an up charge for fried rice. He said it was some of the best he has ever had. The sushi however was just ok. The overuse of condiment felt like a ploy to cover over lower quality fish. The flavor was just not that great. Also, charging for spicy Mayo feels a bit excessive, but hey, I get it. You have to pay for those fake little plastic bonsai trees somehow. Service: 3/5 Having to ask for plates when you get a sushi platter should not happen. My partner and I were sharing a platter and the waitress only brought us one cup for soy and no plates. Also, the weirdly plated sushi was gimmicky and difficult to share.Ambiance: 2/5 The music was ok but the plating of the food and lack of availability on condiments and mismatching silverware made it all feel cheap and tawdry. I probably won't be back, as there are equally ok sushi spots who don't rely on gimmicks to wow their customers. I would have preferred just rolls on a platter without the little wooden box with a pile of shaved radish covering two blinking plastic ice cubes with one of my rolls precariously squished on top. Also, having random piles of lettuce on the plate is so unneeded. Not to mention that the rolls themselves were cramped with all the extra fake decor that reminded me of what you would place in a fish tank. It's like they asked themselves what would a midwestern person expect in a sushi restaurant and then they made it a parody of that.

Decided to try this place with the family while we were in Wichita and i'm glad i did. It's a smaller space with about 7 or 8 booth and 2 larger table in the middle. The staff was really nice. We started out with a couple of appetizers and they were decent. The Karage chicken was more like sweet sour chicken. The pork belly bao was decent. The best appetizer we had by far was the yellow tail carpaccio and crispy rice. This is where things changed. The salmon nigiri was pretty good with a good balance of fattiness. I been to a lot of ramen joint and the black garlic tonkatsu blew me away. The broth was rich and creamy with a full flavor taste. It wasnt salty and had a really good balance. The pork flavor shine through in the bowl. I'm giving this place a 5 star just for the black garlic tonkatsu! Come get the ramen and skip most of the apps!

What a fun experience! My friend and I decided to come check out Mira tonight for the first time. The menu had lots of sushi options, ramen, rice bowls and lots of other items to try. We both opted for the Miso Ramen. I've never had ramen (besides the $.49/pack kind) and this was an experience! The presentation was great. Our host and server were wonderful. The host asked if we liked spicy things, as he had made a fresh chili paste that day and he offered to let us try! I tried a small little taste on the tip of my chopstick and WOWZA, it was fresh and VERY hot! he did warn us it was VERY spicy. He wasn't wrong! The ambiance is great. It's so clean, well laid out, and feels like an nice sitdown restaurant! It was a treat to dine there and I'm sure I'll be back! Next time, I'm going to try the sushi!

Their idea of Japanese tea is water and... a paper bag. Their salad is lettuce and... some sauce from... a bottle. (And that's it!)Nothing specifically wrong with that. However, it really feels like something intrinsically wrong with the whole place because of that.There are several schools when it comes to Japanese cuisine in terms of the breadth and width of the spices. The one employed at this place is rather mild, it requires the ingredients to be really fresh and sources from Japan. I guess it's hard to achieve with the pre-cooked ingredients sourced by 3rd parties.
