If you are looking for a place to stay that is peaceful, cute, historical, Pet Friendly and clean this place is for you. Everyone their was quite friendly and our room was very comfortable. They have a restaurant in the hotel and our food was great. Funny thing! I accidentally dropped my Apple Watch on the floor in the hotel room and it called 911. The dispatcher called me and said they needed to do a check to make sure I was okay even if I didn't mean to call them. So within a few minutes we had an officer knocking at our door. With that said, City of Wilson also has a great response service if you were in need of assistance. Plus, if you have a Apple Watch don't drop it.

We had a chance to visit the Midland Hotel and Restaurant on a recent detour into Wilson, KS to see the World's Largest Czech Egg. We didn't have a chance to stay here but look forward to staying here on a future visit across Kansas. The building (hotel and restaurant) are beautiful historic structures.Due to the time of day (mid-afternoon), we also didn't get a chance to actually enjoy the restaurant but we also have this on our list for a future trip. Now we know this gem is just 2 miles south of I-70, we will definitely be coming back.

This is a great gem of a historical hotel. The staff is very accommodating and pleasant. The bed linens were very nice as well as the towels. Those are very important to myself. The rooms were very clean. Several good options to dine. We had dinner at the hotel and cocktails at the barn which was also well decorated and fun atmosphere. The room we had was small o we had an extra one for our teenager. I will be back.

I had several relatives from the Bay area coming to Ellsworth County for my son's graduation who wanted to have dinner at a nice restaurant while they were visiting. I thought that the Midland would be a nice place to take them. I got on the website to see if I could make reservations, but nowhere on the site did I see anything about reservations. As I have traveled extensively, I know that most fine restaurants require reservations; therefore, I phoned the establishment to, first of all, make sure they were going to be open that night, and secondly, to see if we did, in fact, need reservations. A woman answered the phone, at which point I asked if the restaurant would be open Saturday night. She said it was. I then asked if we needed reservations. Her response was, "Well, you can't just walk in a restaurant with eight people and expect to be served if you don't have reservations." I explained to her that I, in fact, know that in larger cities, you DO need reservations, but that that is normally clearly stated on the wesbite, and that in many small towns, such as Wilson (with a population of around 800 people) many times you DON'T need reservations. I went ahead and made my reservations and gave my family the details. I really felt like I was talked down to by this woman. I'm sure she thinks I'm some uneducated, small-town country bumpkin, but I am definitely not!! The next day I decided I would take my business elsewhere. There's a family owned and operated restaurant in Sylvan Grove called Flyboys that I thought would suite us better. I have heard very good things about Flyboys. So I called Flyboys to make reservations, and guess what!!! They don't take reservations!! I discussed with them the best time for us to arrive for them to accommodate us and they did say we may have to wait 30 minutes, however, I would much rather wait a half hour to be served by local folks who respect others, than some big city slicker who is just here to make a buck and has no respect for the people in this county. In conclusion, I feel that people in the hospitality business should know better than to speak to someone in the manner I was spoken to. Sometimes they have no idea who they are talking to.....

Stayed there last night for my wife's Birthday. The Hotel is beautiful and very clean. Not much to do in town but did go to the mercantile across the way. It was a great stay except we had no hot water! We stayed in the Queen Jacuzzi room (312) and couldn't use it. (Management made it up for us). Besides that, the food was amazing downstairs. We heard the Barn was good but it's only BBQ which isn't a bad thing we just wanted steak. Free coffee 24/7. I will most definitely come back in the future!

You walk in and think, This is where Al Capone could've stayed. It looks like it was built in 1886. Theoretically, when they remodeled, they fixed it so it does look like an old railroad hotel. The stairs are pine green carpeted. Each room has a name and old fashioned keys. At night they say it's haunted. I'd believe it. Theirs antique dolls displayed and old eye glasses in a mantle. They have breakfast. It was so so. And I swear their restaurant which is all the way in the basement, hidden like a speakeasy, is the only restaurant I found in Wilson. I wound stay their again just for the experience.

Very clean and interesting place. Loved the relaxed atmosphere and exploring the different levels of the hotel and grounds that connect a large open area with plenty of seating.

The hotel is a 10/10 and the restaurant is a 7.5/10A storied and comfy hotel in the little Czech town of Wilson, Kansas. The staff were above and beyond kind and helpful. The rooms, which may supposedly be haunted, are quaint yet cozy. We decided to come during some record heat, so the ACs struggled, but we managed comfortably due to the generosity of the staff. The restaurant/bar, nestled in the basement of the hotel, has some pricey but good food (including steaks, country cooking, and some other assorted cuisines).
