I used to live in Newton and absolutely love Meridian Grocery and the family that runs it. It is owned and operated by the Mennonites. You can find a wonderful selection of homemade breads, fresh farm cheese, and an amazing bulk section of grains, spices, and sweets. They also sell frozen veggies bulk style. Additionally, the is the discount part of store as previously mentioned by another Yelper... there the selection is always changing but some of my favorites are nutritional bars usually 10 or 5 for $1. Dressings .25 to .50 cents. Frozen name brand pizzas $1. Gourmet K-cups $3. Etc., etc.Bulk section is in the corner. Tip: Bring your own bags or you can take the produce boxes up front to pack your goods.

Great discount food store. If you go in with the correct understanding of the store it can be an adventure and you can save $$.This store sales goods that the packaging is damages, missing labels, odd lots (package should ten items but only has nine.), and just about any defect that large grocery store won't sale. One day you will find your favorite fruit in a can that has a big dent, you may not see that canned fruit in the store for months. It all depends on what gets damaged in the shipping process. You can also find item you were not planning on buying but the price is so low it's hard to pass-up. An example: they had several boxes of K-cups, the coffee containers for the coffee-by-the-cup, the boxes had been smashed but the cups were fine. Were as, these boxes sale for $0.50 per cup or more in most stores, because of the smashed boxes they sold for $0.50 per box. I bought ever box they had. I have not seen K-cups in the store since.
