Food was cold and lacks attention to seasoning. Service is slow, drinks are not good and ambiance is not inviting.

Alright, I've been coming here for a while, every time I've had to work in this small town in southern Kansas in fact. THIS IS BY FAR, the best restaurant with the best dishes in the region, period. And I'm talking ANYWHERE in the region. Nothing comes close. This is literally as authentic as eating somewhere on the west coast of Mexico.I don't know how they do it. The seafood is fresh, fresh, fresh! They bring in live lobsters every Thursday, fresh. The spices and sauces are EXACTLY what you'd find on the beaches along Sinaloa and Nayarit.Service is always courteous, smiles, attentive, welcoming. I love this place. I cannot be in town and not eat here at least once, three times if possible.Hope you enjoy my photos!

Yelp buddies, you steered me in the right direction this time! I love you! I usually don't review a place after one visit, but Mariscos Sinaloa earned it!We walked into Mariscos Sinaloa while the live music was playing, the bartenders were making margaritas, and the servers were taking plates of food to the tables. The smell of freshly prepared seafood hit my nostrils and caused a flood of saliva to coat my mouth like a quickly dissolving ice cube. Almost everyone in the restaurant looked at us, but I felt right at home! I looked at my dining companions and said, "We are going to like this place!"The music was authentic and delightful! My mother played the accordion when she was younger and it brought back a lot of memories when I heard the wind blowing through the bellows being accompanied by the strings of a guitarist. I had to leave them a tip; you should too!My Spanish is a little rusty, but I didn't need to use it. We ordered the regular margarita...get it! They dip the rim in lime before dipping it in salt; it's a great touch! The margarita itself was very tasty (you can call your own tequila or let them pick one out for you). For $11.99 you can't go wrong! The mango margarita was very sweet, almost too sweet. The server steered us to the Cucarachas (roaches, not cockroaches)! They are actually shrimp cooked in a nice sauce. I found the sauce to be a little on the vinegar-side for my tastebuds (this is why I don't like the regular Tabasco sauce). I ordered the shrimp tacos (with cheese). These are very similar to Birria tacos, but with shrimp. They were out-of-this-world fantastic! I begrudgingly shared one with my dining companions; they needed to see just how delicious they were! They each said, "Oh wow!" The regular shrimp tacos were delicious, but the cheese ones took the taste to a different level; like putting Hershey's chocolate sauce on top of vanilla ice cream. The regular hot sauce at the table had nice flavor, but I like to sweat. I asked the server for something that could kill a gringo. She brought a delightful habanero-based sauce that did the trick! I was sweating in no time! She smiled and said, "I have something hotter if that isn't enough!" It was enough. Let's talk about the seafood. I will be honest. There was a bit of skepticism in the back of my mind about ordering seafood in Liberal, Kansas. We were originally at a steakhouse, but I was disappointed in the menu and the fact they didn't serve any EtOH. The shrimp were fantastic and equally on par with any of the other memorable shrimp I've experienced in the past. They tasted fresh, so fresh, in fact, you could not detect they had ever swam in the ocean! These shrimp must have been pampered and spoiled by their parents growing up; I bet they didn't have to work one day of their lives before being gathered up for slaughter. We have all had fish that shouldn't taste like the ocean, but do; you know what I mean!Order the guacamole and ask to add some jalapeños! They prepared it fresh and it was the perfect addition to the meal!I made it a point to tell our server, Anaisa, just how delicious the food was. She said the owner takes a lot of pride in the quality of the food and makes sure the other chefs are consistent. You can absolutely tell! Anaisa was the epitome of service and charm; I wish this restaurant was in California, but for now, it's not. If you find yourself in Liberal, Kansas, this is a MUST TRY. Once you're done eating, just click your heels three times and say, "There's no place like home." And yes, the Wizard of Oz was actually playing on the television when we were there. See you in my dreams Mariscos Sinaloa.

Think you can only get great steak in Kansas? Imagine fresh seafood! Every meal I've had here is fresh and delicious!! The owners, Juan and Ester are wonderful and love to talk about the wonderful style of seafood preparation they employ: from the Sinaloa and Nayarit states of Mexico. I'll eat here every time I'm in town!

In a town where most of the restaurants are Mexican, Mariscos stands way above any Mexican restaurant I have ever dined. Their menu is seafood based, here you can easily have shrimp 20 different ways, all prepared with flavorful sauces, vegetables, and side dishes. We started out with thee best homemade guacamole, it was tart from the lime plus some added cucumber. I asked for some nacho cheese sauce, which came as a side to chips and amazing salsa. It was a white queso sauce, a perfect topping on each of our dishes, shrimp fajitas and a shrimp salad. All the staff was friendly, plus there was live music that was a nice added touch, plus not too loud.I would stay overnight in Liberal, Ks just to go back to Mariscos again!
