Maple UnCommon

We recently attended my husband's High School reunion in Columbus, KS. The Maple UnCommon Hotel and Guest House is about the only place to stay in Columbus, but it made the trip 'home' even more pleasurable and nostalgic. 'Once upon a time,' it was the J.C. Penny's store. Now it's an extremely unique, charming, hotel-guest house, bed & breakfast, and Art Gallery all stirred up into one. And the owner, manager, and hostess, is an amazing, warm and lovely lady who is totally given to hospitality. The place quickly became our home away from home.

My father and I stayed here for 5 nights in October 2014. It is by far the nicest, cleanest and most welcoming place to stay in the area. The hosts Laura and Mel make you feel very comfortable. They are able to give you complete privacy while making you also feel that you are a welcomed guest. Our room felt more like an apartment. We had 3 beds in our room King, Queen and a twin. Also had a nice dining and living room area. Laura made sure every morning that we had fresh coffee, juice and plenty to eat. Going as far to let us know if there was something missing in the kitchen that we wanted she would get it for us. I will definitely stay here again and would recommend it to everyone.

Only place to stay in town!! Classy place set in an old JC Penneys. Nine great rooms, lovely hosts and nothing in town that comes close.
