I liked how, even if you eat inside, you call in your order from a retro-style phone receiver at the table. The food? A different story. Cheeseburger was micro-sized and likely just taken from the freezer with a slice of what appeared to be Velveeta cheese inside a semi-stale bun. Tasteless.Ham salad on white bread that might have been made on the premises. Decent but certainly not remarkable. Listless fries, barely warm. The place was jammin' though. And everybody, I think, knew everybody else. I liked that. It's called "legendary" and I bet a bunch of local folks believe it is. I'd hit up Runza or Wendy's instead.

If you're skeptical of another Midwest "Sysco" foods fry place. Mac's breaks the mold! The food was absolutely awesome. The burgers are extremely well made, toppings are fresh and was a good old fashioned hamburger. The ribeye sandwich was a highlight, as it was well marinated, cooked, and seasoned. The fries and onion rings were hand cut but needed to be salted if you're looking for a perfect fry / ring experience. The chicken strips were cooked well and served with homemade ranch. If you're a ranch enthusiast this is one of the best. Bathrooms were clean, tables and drink areas picked up and not sticky - it's a true Americana drive in experience. Lastly all of the staff was nice and quick considering the menu is full of hand made meals.

This little gem we passed up several times. But checking out at the Walmart we asked the cashier where to eat and she said Mac's. So we did. It was wonderful. Pick up the phone and order! They bring out the food to your car or table! The food was really good the people were "southern hospitality " nice. I recommend the stop.. especially if you are on a budget!

Mac's Drive-In is a throw back restaurant where you can order via speaker and eat in your car or grab a booth inside and use the booth phone to place your order. We opted to eat inside because of the warm summer weather. My husband and I both ordered burgers and shared an order of hand breaded onion rings. Our burgers were thin, but good. The buns on the burgers were a little harder than we were accustomed to which may have been caused by grilling or sitting too long. The onion rings were the stars of the show--crisp, tasty and golden. We did not order ice cream but many tables around us did and it looked worthy of a stop.If you are looking for a place to take the kids and share memories of a drive in, this is your place. Clean, friendly, fast and affordable food.

Order a pizza burger! Unique. Macs is a must stop every time I am in McCook. My order choice: Pizza burger, onion rings and vanilla Dr. Pepper. If room for dessert, a strawberry shake or Cherry tart.

There was an original diner from the 1950s that I used to visit in Los Angeles. Merely entering the establishment would magically transport you back in time. Sadly, the city tore it down as yet another piece of Americana was taken from us.Thankfully, places like Mac's still exist in rural Nebraska! Walking into the restaurant instantly takes you back to a bygone era. The interior looks like it hasn't changed in 70 years! You'll do yourself a disservice if you sit in the drive-through and miss out on the time travel experience inside. And, you actually get to phone in your order from the table! The fried chicken is quite spectacular, considering they're a long way from the best chicken joints in Tennessee and Texas. I've had a lot of chicken in my travels to all 50 states, and their chicken passed the test, crispy exterior and juicy inside. The onion rings were pretty good, but the fries were unfortunately mushy and soft. I tried the Mint/Chocolate Cyclone, a tasty blend of vanilla ice cream with bits of Grasshopper cookies and Andes mints! So good!!! They also have sensational lime sodas and floats, like any good '50s restaurant would. I've heard the hamburgers are good too. If you're passing through town, take advantage of this trip to yesteryear.

My cousin knew I was coming and was pushing hard to get four Ham Salad Sandwiches. I had already came from Tennessee to Salt Lake City, Utah and was going to travel 140 more miles out of my way just to get the Ham Salad Sandwiches I grew up on.Before I reached McCook, Rick had already gone down and bought them for me. It had been four years since my last one, so I savored every bite.Delicious as always! Laying down in a WaKeeney, Kansas Truck stop wishing I would have asked for five.

This is such a fun place! It has the drive in feel because it's actually a drive in! For the indoor dinning there is a phone you can use to order! I got the pizza burger and it was amazing! I got a cherry shake as well and it was very good!
