Omg the carnitas... if you're driving through stop here. The carnitas was so authentic -- crispy and flavorful. Service is friendly and everything tasted fresh. Shrimp fajitas were beautifully cooked. Only giving 4 stars for the lights, could dial them down so it's a little dimmer/warmer and this place would be spot on!

STOP HERE AND EAT. My husband and I and our four children came through town during the Sunday after church lunch rush and had the most phenomenal food ever. If you are a Mexican lover and eat at places like El Maguey or other similar restaurants, you will love this. My husband had the sampler with enchilada, tamale, tostada, Chile relleno, beans and rice and loved it all, particularly the enchilada. My preteens loved the beef enchiladas and tacos and I loved the SALSA (omg perfect restaurant salsa, not too hot but just enough), the refried beans were seasoned differently than I've ever had and I ate them all and I *cannot* recommend the SHREDDED BEEF CHIMICHANGA more. It was so flavorful and delicious. (My youngest had the Mac and cheese - lame - but loved the cheese dip!)

We love coming here when we are in town visiting the family. Everything is fantastic! My husband ordered the tacos el hombre and I just had an enchilada and rice. A great little treasurer off of highway 36!

Great authentic Mexican food ! the menu is huge! A lot of choices. I had been there a few times and all dishes my husband and I tried were excellent, "fajitas Mexicanas" were delicious they are a combination of chicken, beef and chorizo cooked with caramelize onions and peppers, but my favorite are the " Tacos de Carne Asada" (beef tacos) the meet is tender and served with salsa and pico de gallo just like they serve the tacos in Mexico. The service is great, fast and friendly Las Canteras, my favorite place to eat in Smith Center KS.

From the beaches of Playa del Carmen, to Lovers Beach, Cabo San Lucas there are many eclectic Mexican foods I love to devour. Las Canteras is the best Mexican food with authenticity that my pallette craves almost daily. I have traveled to many states, and on my journies make time to find great traditional Mexican dishes to fullfil these cravings. Fortunately it is right here in the Geographical Center of the Continguous 48 States. I am very privileged to have such a great restaurant less than five minutes from my house. You do not want to miss this venue when passing through the Heartland!

After a long day of driving from Texas, partly due to husband's insistence on driving through the farm land, I went to Yelp to see if there was anything at all to eat...Las Canteras was listed with 4.5 stars! I have to admit, it was really good! I really liked their salsa. I had the veggie fajitas and it was a huge portion with a great flavor. My husband had the chicken chimichanga and the shredded chicken was super tasty. My daughter had the burrito macho, son-in-law went with the tamales, and there rave reviews from them, too. I was tempted, but passed on the Patron Tequila, but it was $5!! I paid $11 last week in Houston. This place is definitely worth the stop.

First impression was not great, as the booth upholstery had a huge rip and the proprietor said he had let his liquor licence expire. However, the food was served promptly and piping hot. The taco was in a hard shell, which was strange, and the burrito was bland, but the chile relleno was excellent.
