La Estrella

Stopped for dinner while staying in Garden City for a night on way to CO for vacation. The only disappointment is that I wish La Estrella was in *my* hometown.Four of us, including a vegan and a picky eater, loved everything we ate.My husband had the pork tacos (pastor, I think he said) and chorizo tacos, and he raved. They were more of a street-style taco, served with fresh lime to squeeze over. Very fresh!I am a big fan of enchiladas and had the enchiladas rojas. They were more authentic than Tex Mex (everything here is), but a great proportion of sauce to cheese to enchilada. With a bit of the spicy salsa (yowza!) or pico (the pico is ah-MAYYY-zing!), just mmmmmmmMMMMMM. So good!Picky Eater (our 18 yo son) got 3 burritos with just ground beef and cheese inside. He was in heaven.Vegan (our 15 yo dgtr) got the fries and some chips and guac. She was fighting us ALL off her food. That GUACCC!!! Yum, yum, YUM. Just yum.And they serve beer, too!Y'all. This little restaurant is a gem. My husband wants to go back this morning for breakfast. You just have to check it out if you find yourself in Garden City.(PS: I use Yelp all the time, but this is my first-ever review. I am usually WAY too lazy for that!)

I came into this establishment solely because the reviews were great. Upon entering the restaurant I almost left the ambience is not the greatest or what you would expect from a restaurant, but one previous reviewer stated that it was a hole in the wall which is why I didn't leave, the food was great. I had shrimp tacos. I only ordered three. I should've ordered three more. It was so good and so fresh the service was great and pleasant. The woman working was very kind. I would definitely eat there again.

Food was great! The staff was adorable... Not the cleanest place, but it's a hole in the wall type place. I had the tacos, which were amazing.Give it a try, what could it hurt?

Came back to see if the tacos are still amazing and they were Good and juicy. I do recommend calling in your food waited 20 mins for this order, but good. 27 dollars for 5 tacos rice and beans and flaunts plate.

Took my guys out for lunch, the food was decent for Garden City standards, however immediately after I got back to my hotel I felt sick and had to take the browns to the Super Bowl. Might have been the tripas because two of my workers were on the same boat. I love supporting local small businesses but this one is in need of a revamp and some help.

Absolutely amazing food. I am blown away by these enchiladas is not something I thought I'd need to say but here we are. Tried this dish based on another reviewer and I can't wait to come back.

We were driving through Kansas to Colorado and stopped here for a quick bite since the reviews were so good. The place was packed with locals and didn't have enough tables for all the people there. By the time that we all received our food, we got a small table in a corner.The food tastes ok, nothing out of this world like the other reviewers said. My husband didn't like the Hawaiian burger. He said that it was burned. My steak (bistek) was well seasoned but tough, really hard to cut. Everything else was just fine. The cashier was polite and answered all our questions.

Perfect perfect tacos!! This is as authentic as you get! Had the three tacos with pork Astor and carne asada- delicious! I'm a wimp so couldn't handle their salsa. Topped it all of with a ice cold Mexican coke! Perfection!

The food is top notch authentic!!!!!! Our favorite family owned restaurant in town!!!!! Family owned & operated!!! Food is tasty , hot , & good .

This place is truly Authentic and ran by a family. Made me smile seeing the little kids running around while mom and dad are working their butts off to serve delicious food. Pricing is reasonable but bring cash as they charge to use a card. Oh yeah, the food looks and tastes delicious
