Krispy's Fried Chicken & Seafood

This place never disappoints. I've eaten here several times & it's always the best chicken in town. I love the fact that they don't fry the chicken & leave it under a lamp like every other chicken restaurant. I don't mind the wait for fresh food.The chicken has a good crisp, it's juicy & hot. We always get the fried okra & the fried macaroni bites, both are a hit with the family. Love the fact that they actually season the okra & the macaroni bites are firm on the outside & creamy inside. The place is small, the staff are efficient & very friendly too. Even old employees have only good things to say about the people which you don't really hear these days. One day I have to try the seafood too. Don't know why I forget that they do more than just chicken. Keep up the good work!

I just love me some chicken and waffles, ya know? It's also harder to find corn nuggets and they have those too. The chicken tenders (with the waffles at least) are huge, light, crunchy and juicy to the point that I can only ever eat 2, but I'm told they're also kinda bland by themselves. (I only eat them with the waffle and syrup, so I wouldn't know.) I was told the shrimp po' boy was well seasoned and the hot wings were tasty. The service is always friendly and prompt. We had a party of 6 and they got all our food out to us at the same time, which is always a plus for a pick-up-at-the-counter sort of place. Everything was hot and fresh. It looks like they're associated with Crafted, a nice poké bowl place on the east side, and I take that as a sign of quality even if the food is completely different.The ambiance is super basic; the place has been a cafe (maybe a gas station?) of one kind or another for a very long time, and other than a fresh coat of yellow and red paint when they opened a few years ago, it hasn't visibly changed much. But it's clean and taken care of, with tables limited to 2-4, but they don't mind if you push them together. I feel like most people get their orders to go anyway.I enjoy this little hidden gem on the south side and I hope they keep going!

Wow. Just popped in to this gritty little gem and had to take a few minutes' break from work to capture my elation on Yelp. What is the magic in this absolute hole-in-the-wall that somehow captured the supreme technique for battering and frying up sea/river food?! Is it the lingering spirits of master chefs who once reigned from the now-45-year-old Dairy Freeze (or was it Tastee Freez?) throne? It's so understated and ordinary by all outward appearances. But once you dive into their culinary wares you're sure to bend a knee to these fryer savants.I had the one piece fish (cat) with 6 shrimp (butterfly), which were tossed into a Styrofoam container atop a heap of amazingly crispy fries, a cold roll, and some curious coleslaw. Pure and absolute delight. So, so, so, so flavorful! Not a hint of fishiness to the shrimp or dirty-river'ness to the cat, nothing but sublime texture and deeply satisfying, zesty flavor, with the kind of crispy crunch that lasts all the way through the very last, perfectly golden french fry finger-lick.My word, the sorrow I feel for all other cities. For only in Wichita, KS, will you find this amazing Krispy's Fried Chicken & Seafood, skirting the outskirts on the old Joyland South Side. Don't take your date, fella, cuz the cheap, cheap prices and the grim ambience are gonna make your girl question your adoration for her. But definitely take your wife and kids. Give me a call and take me too! I wanna try the mashed potatoes next time.

Cheapest fried chicken in town, and it was very delicious. Very fresh cooked order outstanding.

Loved the food here. Shrimp was cooked perfectly and the catfish was clean. If you like fried food, make sure you hit this place up.

The seafood place we wanted to go to was closed and looks like it's been closed for awhile so we found this place. The fried shrimp and fish was good. I also ordered chicken gizzards - they were a little grizzly but I like the batter and flavor (why can't they cut out the rubbery/grizzly parts - I do when I clean gizzards). The fries were OK. The cole slaw was a marinated type and hubby liked it. The "salad" that came with the dinners was just a "garden mix" so nothing special but we ate it. Average COVID measures in place. Lots of people were picking up food to take out or home. We ate in and there was only one other party eating in but it was a small place. I'd go again - but maybe order a different side than fries that is not fried.

This location was amazing, the Fried Chicken was absolutely the best I have ever had! What a gem for Wichita.And in top of that....even a nicer family!!!Glenn

Food was fresh.Prices have changed since reading further reviews a 5 piece tender meal is 11.99 and not 6.99 which is totally ok with todays prices.Chicken was super but not a ton of flavor, which isn't a big deal cause I used gravy and spicy ranch. Like little hole in the wall restaurants.Ladies behind the counter were very nice.

We had the mac n cheese bites to share. I got a platter with 3 chicken tenders and a catfish fillet with potatoes and gravy for the side. My mom got 3 chicken tenders with fries. The gravy was alright for fast food but not my favorite, I dipped my chicken in it and that was good but I didn't want to eat just the potatoes and gravy. The chicken tenders are big. Neither of us could finish all 3. Mac n cheese bites were really good but they seemed like they were made with box mac n cheese? Not that that's a bad thing necessarily but it wasn't what I expected. The catfish was really good. The fries were amazing. They were kind of like popeyes with the really crisp coating. The ranch was clearly bottled instead of made fresh. My family is kind of snooty when it comes to ranch so it wasn't up to our high standards.The woman at the register was really nice and made sure we knew that the mac n cheese bites were fried triangles, not just regular mac n cheese. The food was all out pretty quickly.I was very sad that they didn't have the deep fried ice cream. I've been looking for a restaurant with real deep fried ice cream for probably about 7 years now and this was the first place I saw that had pictures in the reviews of it. But they don't have it right now Hope they bring it back soon

This is a regular stop for me. Better than fast food fried chicken and grocery stores fried chicken. The sides are fresh and substantial.
