Kountry Kafe

We stopped by here on our way home. It was not a very pretty building but the food was pretty good and cheap. I had a the hickory burger which just had an onion ring and barbecue sauce on it. It was not worth the extra dollar. The slice of apple pie was decent, and if you're looking for a sweet treat I would not skip over it.

I wasn't really expecting too much from this cafe and I'm glad I didn't get my hopes up. It was the only place open on Labor Day weekend so we stopped in. I ordered a fish sandwich after the waitress told me it was cod, it ended up being a square frozen fish patty they had just tossed in the oven. They had some sort of meat sandwich covered in gravy that looked delicious, and the grilled cheese was pretty good.

not bad: it's your typical greasy American restaurant in central Kansas: nice waitresses, okay salad bar, and a solid chicken fried steak. the private dining area in back is quite nice for larger groups.
