Although this restaurant has been in Great Bend for decades it still serves great food. We attended on a Friday night, was seated promptly, fed well, was very well served, and came out smiling. I was impressed at how much staff they had and they were all hustling and cheerful. It is American TexMex but very nicely done.

We don't live in Kansas but when we are visiting friends and family in Great Bend we make sure we stop at Kiowa every single trip. The service, food and menu options are all great. Definitely the best Mexican food in Great Bend.

The food here is NOT Mexican, and it is not even Tex-Mex. At best, is a wierd, unspiced, very bland, mid-american version of Tex-Mex. There was not a Latino diner in the place, and the only people I saw in the kitchen were white. To add insult to injury, the meal was priced too high, it took us an hour after we ordered to be served, and they had no Mexican hot sauce to give the food any flavor. To be fair, I should have been forwarned by the inappropriate name of the place, and by the fact that most every diner was an older white person, (as am am I). I however hail from a town with lots of good, authentic Mexican food. The only plus is that we had a good waiter who did his best with what he had to work with.

Always delicious I have never had a bad meal there. The Catfish is my main thing, fully dressed. All I can say is YES.

How this place is always packed I'll never understand. Came in at 4:30 on a Saturday. Ordered the Texican which was suppose to be bean and meat burritos with chips and veggies on top. Store bought tortillas with beans and meat inside with crushed chips is what I got. Added sour cream in hopes of adding some flavor. Husband had enchilada dinner. The taste of store bought flour tortillas kills any other flavor. Beyond disappointed. 13$ plus having to pay for chips and salsa for 3-4 bites of my dinner. This was a 45$ mistake!

This is a tex mex restruant that isn't quite authentic like some Hispanic eateries but my absolute favorite of anyplace. Kind of an old Bar feel with friendly people and great food. Service is great but gets slower on busy nights. your children are welcome and so is your big family. They use real cheddar cheese and fantastic pork chile. I'd order the large portion for a big appetite.

The food is not bad American style Mexican with not much variety, but overpriced especially considering the inexpensiveness of the ingredients. They charge extra to use a card and the prices keep going up. The upkeep of the restaurant itself is not great. The carpet in the place is a shame in a place where people eat.

Terrible Service. Walked in, hostess said she didn't have any open tables and she didn't know how long the wait would be. We watched 2 tables of people leave. Hostess cleaned the tables and never sat us. Meanwhile the cashier had her head on the counter and just started at us. 15 min later we left.

Very disappointing experience. Arrived around 11:20 a.m. Nearly 40 minutes to receive food, even though we ordered the daily specials thinking those would come out rather quickly. Chips stale tasting. Lemonade undrinkable. Chalupa was more akin to a sad tostada. Just seemed off their game today.
