The kids loved this place, although my wife said she'd enjoy the gardens outside next time and I could take them in! Great exhibits, the caretaker the day we were there was so friendly and answered the questions the grandkids kept coming up with so patiently!Great experience and highly recommended!

The best insect zoo we have ever been to, we loved learning about all the different bugs and had so much fun doing it! My girls (ages 24 and 20) have always loved bugs (as have I), but this was our first time in an actual stand-alone insect zoo, and it was AWESOME!! Regular zoo insect houses are okay, but pale in comparison to the K-State insect zoo. We appreciate that the zoo was open over the Christmas holidays so that those of us who take post-Christmas trips (from Dallas) could visit. Bonus: we had the place to ourselves so we had good conversations with the staff entomologist, who explained how they care for and manage their insects. Cool behind the scenes info! Favorite exhibits in no particular order:Leaf-cutter Ants (just given fresh leaves)TarantulasScorpionsMantidsBees!Various exoskeletonsOther spiders (black widow and wolf spider)Assassin BugsWalking sticks - some species were 6 in. long!! The roaches in the kitchen exhibit is not for the faint of heart. Avoid the sink if you are squeamish. The albino roach on the counter exhibit was cool, though. Stop by and grab some insect snacks on the way out. Bugs are a great source of high-quality protein and ranching them is very climate friendly. 5 come get your bug fix stars!!

The kids loved it! They give you small flashlights and a black light to go through. I would say this is a small "zoo" but they've use the space wisely and have a large variety of creepy crawlers. We were the only ones here the day after thanksgiving but they do require masks. I totally didn't read the sign and scared my husband when we were in the kitchen "area" that had all the roaches but the gal working there was a good sport and said usually the husbands scare the wives. The kids loved seeing all of the spiders and the scorpions especially in the black light. They also loved seeing the tree cutter ants. You can feed them a branch and watch them eat and cross the "bridge" to get to their ant hill. We spent about an hour there. Perfect amount of time for a 4 and 2 year old and long enough to give us the sensation that spiders were crawling down our backs lol:

This place is not big, but has a lot of exhibits. If you walk fast you'd be in and out in 20 mins. If you walk slowly and take time to look at exhibits close it will take you around 45 mins.It was fun for the kids. It was worth the $3 admission. The staff was super friendly and willing to answer questions.

Such a cool tiny zoo with lots of different kinds of insects. They fed the ants just for us and they were so fascinating! They have bees, beetles, ants, spiders, scorpions, and...roaches! All really neat if you aren't creeped out. Very humid and warm inside to keep the bugs happy though.

It is small but mighty! Lots of great spiders and centipedes and critters! Our only wish was that there were more descriptions and/or un facts for all the interesting insects.

I love this place and I like to visit every few months. The people who work there are always nice and ready to explain things about the various insects there. My favorite part is the indoor apiary.

This place is small but very awesome. They have tubes with carpenter ants going from one cage to another so you can watch them work, and a beehive with a glass wall. Buy some honey from the gift shop!
