Joplin Regional Airport

To visit my relatives in Carthage, I usually fly United, SFO to Bentonville non-stop, then drive to Carthage (near Joplin) about 90 mins away. Being from the SF Bay Area, those winter roads w/ snow and ice are not my fave :( My cousin told me recently, "Joplin has a Regional Airport and you can fly right in!" So I did: SFO to Denver to Joplin. The Joplin airport is small, attractive, modern, and has two rental car options (Avis, Budget), plus all the TSA personnel and security equipment as required. On the return flight, the agent checked my bags through to SFO upon arrival, I went through security, and joined the other passengers in the comfortable boarding area. Boarding was fast and efficient. I'm a fan! Rating: 5 stars

This airport is one of the best I've ever flown in to or out of ! Parking is easy (and free). When you enter, there's rarely a line. I had to wait a bit once, being early, because the ticket agent wasn't yet on duty. When they had finished checking the passengers in, they walked over to the TSA area (about 50 steps away, no joke). Then we were checked in and through TSA in about 5 minutes. On the other side, there's a be stage center and a vending machine. Probably an available, working outlet to charge a phone. It was also clean, pleasant, and not crowded. Did I mention the free parking?! This airport gets 4 stars only because it's so small there aren't many airlines or direct destinations. But by all means, fly into Joplin if you can. Springfield is big, bustling, brash. Joplin is a GEM!

I absolutely loved this airport! It is by far the smallest airport I have ever flown into or out of. And there are only two rental companies there. Although we were delayed for over an hour on our out board flight the manager Monica was just amazing! She was going to make hotel accommodations and food vouchers for us when they thought the flight was going to be delayed more than 6/8 hours. We ended up not having to stay another night in Joplin, MO thanks to the speedy mechanics. Kudos to all the employees at the airport for handling the mechanical issues with such finesse! If I could fly into and out of this airport for all my flights I would! Lol. All in all a great experience at this airport!

Flew into Joplin Regional Airport now flying out. This airport is small and just so adorable (can't think of another word). All TSA employees and airport employees were so nice and helpful! Flying in and out of small airports like this is wonderful!! No major lines, not crowded and very clean! I would fly all the time if airports were all this simple.... I love small regional airports like Joplin. Getting through is fast, TSA and airline workers are generally friendly and patient, getting in and out fast is just a matter of doing business. There are no vendors or food court so there is no reason to hang out.Show up 30 minutes before your flight and you can park walk in, do security and still make you plane! Checking luggage does mean showing up and hour early and if your a minute late you won't get to check in as the person working the counter may be the same person loading the plane or taking tickets at the gate. So they won't come back and help you once the front counter closes.Other pluses are the free parking, the fact that your 1-2 minute from the gate no matter where you park, and getting out is just as fast.There are many airports like this across the US some a little bigger but with great service like Louisville, KY which is bigger but still fast, friendly, and professional.

I lived just down the road form this airport. I used to fly out of it every week but had to change airports due to the limited flight times. But I do recommend it if you have a more flexible schedule.

Terrible service! Walked in the door at 5:25 not a person in line. They refuse to check my bag or load me and I had to pay $525 to re-route my flight though not a soul had boarded the plan and they were still searching checked bags and flight didn't leave until 6. Small airport with the worst airport customer service I have ever seen! I've had better customer service in Oakland California than this country bumpkin airport! Ridiculous!!!

Fly out of Joplin if you can. Currently two daily flights to Dallas. No parking fees. If you're gone for a week you've paid for the extra cost of flying out local. Two things would make it great. More flights which would allow them to have a little sandwich shop. I think they're doing the best they can with what they have.Also easy TSA! No lines to speak of...

I used to have to drive out of town every week to catch flights. This airport is getting better and bEtter. More flights. Bigger planes. And just added TSA precheck line.

One of the nicest and clean regional airports I have ever flown through. The cost to fly out of it is very reasonable once you figure cost of driving to Tulsa, KC or Springfield (time to drivr there and back, gas, miles on your car, parking) along with that the hassels and long check in and security lines. It is well worth paying and extra $75 to $125, is about the normal price difference I have found on all my flights in and out of there.
