While Trucking across the country, this is a simple small town Diner, conveniently located across the street from a Fueling station with plenty of space to park your Rig. Whether it be your stopping place for the night or just a short break this Diner can provide you with a Good Breakfast or Lunch to keep you going down the road. Prices are ideal and the service is friendly. Enjoy and keep on Truckin!

Sit 15 minutes never got a hi, bye or whatever, needs to hire some help. Half the tables were empty but dirty so maybe they had been busy?

Stopped here for lunch today. Just a little café on a two-lane highway in the middle of Kansas. The food was good. The specials were fried chicken and a tostada. I had a tostada and it was very good. My husband ordered a chicken fried steak sandwich, which he said was very good also. Not much ambience; service was fabulous. I think we were the only people who were from out of town. But you could see that a lot of locals came, maybe even every day. it is a good place to stop for breakfast or lunch on the way from somewhere to somewhere.

My husband and I were looking for a little hole in the wall to stop for a late lunch. We love small town diners and cafes, and the down home cooking they offer. Joan's did not disappoint! They had a buffet today with fried chicken, brisket, mashed potatoes and gravy(white and brown), cheesy potatoes, corn on the cob, baked beans, and a salad bar! It came with dinner rolls, tea or coffee, and dessert(peach cobbler or triple berry cobbler)! We only spent $26 for all of that! Everything was absolutely delicious! We will definitely be back when we're back out this way!

This is a sweet little cafe we found while visiting the Quivira National Wildlife Refuge. There is almost nothing else around here, so we felt really lucky to find "made from scratch" food. This is almost miraculous in this part of the world, which is why I gave it four stars. Two of us had the daily specials of roast pork and fried chicken. Both were accompanied by (real!) mashed potatoes and white gravy, a homemade roll, and a green bean-carrot mixture. Although the veggies were frozen not fresh, they were reasonably cooked and not mush as one finds so often in this part of the country. I am told the norm here is canned veggiesThe other member of our party had the 8 oz burger with potato salad which were reported to be very good. We shared coconut meringue pie and rhubarb pie: both homemade! The crusts were very good, especially the rhubarb. The meringue was perfect. Both pies were sweetened just enough, not cloying. Because rhubarb is so tart, people tend to oversweeten it. Not here. Overall, a very good effort for a very small town cafe.

We had Sunday smorgasbord and I'm not usually a big fan of smorgasbord but this was great. There was not a lot of selections but what they had was above par. We had salad, fried chicken, mashed potatoes with brown gravy and corn. The dessert was brought to us after eating. It was a delicious pineapple cake. It's right on Hwy 50, so was right on our route. Lots of cars parked in the lot was a good clue.

With not many places to choose from in town, it gets the most business. They have decent food, you just have to be careful who is working and who is cooking/serving. Some very nasty people work at the place. Selling drugs out the back, not washing hands, they will be on a smoke break and then go right back to handling food without washing their hands. If you get sick shortly after, you know why.
