I was in Ponca City, Oklahoma on a film project and I stumbled on this burger joint and I had to check it out. Jim's Jumbo Burger is this tiny spot on the corner and is take out only from a single window. It's only open a few hours a day and looks like it's been there, in the same exact spot since before Teddy Ruxpins existed. Exactly my kind of burger joint for lunch when on the road!!!! I grabbed a double cheese burger with bacon and jalapeños and a side of onion rings. I am team mustard so I got yellow bliss added to my buns and I asked for the lettuce, onion, tomatoes and pickle be spared as I had to eat on the fly. I really wish I'd have got it tho!!! The burger didn't need it, but I would have preferred it.So this burger was so freaking good!! Patties had this beef flavor that just kicked my taste buds with a tire iron in the best way possible. Then I had bacon stop by and say hi while slapping me a jalapeño kiss . It was hard to keep my truck between the mustard and mayonnaise stripes!! This was an emotional cheeseburger experience!! My onion rings were solid and delicious but for my preference a little too greasy. I'd eat them again but would opt to try the fries if I make it back up that way again!!! Im so glad I stopped in!!! Service was great and the two folks inside were so friendly!!! They showed me what Oklahoma is all about with their kindness in taking my order and getting it out quickly!!!! Cheers y'all!!!!

Location is low brow, any always has been. However, there was a time when this was the burger place to go in town. The burgers were juicy and full of flavor. They easily beat all the chains in town but they blew the other local joints out of the water as well. It's been awhile since I'd eaten there and was so looking forward to it. But after nearly $20 for a double meat and cheese accompanied with an order of cheese tots and a soda, I wish I'd went to McDonalds. I'm joking I would never go to McDonald's. But now I can say I will never go back to Jim's Jumbo Burger. The burger lacked all the elements of greatness they once held. Virtually no flavor. No juiciness and It lacked actual substance. The tots were old tasting and stale. The cheese was none existent. The meal was not worth nearly $20. Do the math on trying to feed a family of four. A $100 bucks for dry, tasteless, old food is not worth it in any economy. The service was fine, even though the wait time was a bit much for no one else being there. And again it is nothing to look at. The vibe is 1979s retro ran down. It was once a great place with great food. Now I wouldn't waste my time.

I know, it looks rough. Okay, beyond rough. But that is just adding to the mystery of the delicious old fashion burgers that come out of this little dive. The food is spot on and it has remained that way for a long time. It's hard to beat those burgers. The only ones like it in town! Just go. But get there early, because when it is busy, it gets nuts.

If you are looking for some great food and an affordable price then take the family here. Jimmie will cook your family some of the best burgers you will ever have. A very small family run business that's been there for over 50 years. They remain as the best burger joint I've been to since I've been in Oklahoma. The flavors are amazing and the staff is extremely friendly. The owners are charmers and do a lot of good for the community. Great people, great food, and great prices you really can't beat it.

Everybody has their favorite hamburger but for my money the best tasting hamburgers I have ever eaten in the United States are the ones I get at Jim's Jumbo Burger formerly known as 4th Street Burgers in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and before that known as Lota-a Burger.Lot a Burger has been around for a long time - I remember eating there when I was attending high school in Ponca City in the mid-1960's and there is a good reason they have lasted so long - because the food is so good.Get the hamburger basket and for a little over $5 you will get fries, a fountain drink, and the best hamburger you have ever tasted. The texture of the buns is unique to Lot-a-burger - I have never seen hamburger buns so large and crisp anywhere else like the ones at Lot-a-Burger. But the thing that makes Lot-a-Burger unique is the way they cook their burgers. They have a way of making the paddy very thin and large and then frying it without burning or over-cooking it.If you are in Ponca City , then be sure you don't miss Lot-a-Burger.
