Eat here. Just do it. Now read on...Stopped in to Hometown Bakery with my extended family after an overnight in WaKeeney. They didn't have a Yelp page yet but the Google reviews were good so we decided to give it a try (and suggested a Yelp page).I'm sure glad we did. Everything is scratch made and they do more than just baked goods! We basically sampled everything on the menu, breads, spud-nuts, breakfast burritos, you name it it was delicious! They also have good brewed coffee - it's fresh roasted and fresh ground, never saw the bottom of my cup! What sealed the deal was the service. The owner took on a party of 8 early on a Friday morning, and provided fantastic service while still attending to her regulars. You'll be glad you drove the extra 2 minutes off the freeway into downtown WaKeeney. You just can't find places like this any more!

Breakfast like grandma used to do it. One woman show, but the community atmosphere and fellow patrons keep you company and make you feel like youre at the table with family. Recommend the muddy pig, but the hash browns are the best I've ever had. Amazing toast and homemade breads.

If you want locally sourced farm to table delicious food-please stop by. This is in a cute, clean downtown and worth getting off the Interstate. We were in town for a family wedding and stopped by for breakfast. My mother and brother had the German apple pancakes and they were a treat. The owner grew the gravenstein apples herself. I had a sausage and green pepper omelette served with homemade toast and hashbrowns. It was a delightful experience. The breakfast was so delicious that I bought pumpkin cinnamon rolls, slab apple pie and apple butter to take home. It felt like a one woman show in there but be patient-it is totally worth the wait. Please stop by!

Pros: Breakfast sandwiches were delicious. Cinnamon rolls were a nice surprise. Daughter said her over easy eggs were cooked perfectly. Owner was super kind. Delicious homemade jam made daily as well. Cons: The juice bar and smoothies in the description are a bit misleading as that was not on the menu board. Daughter was looking forward to a smoothie. This is a very small town and things move slowly. While it's nice to find an option other than a fast food restaurant so close to the interstate, this stop took much longer than we had hoped. Pictures showed bread and jelly to purchase but there was none available. Some people may be put off by the appearance of the place, but the food was good!

I felt like I was racially profiled at this establishment... they refused to make me food because I came in 2 minutes after their last call for food orders. I get that rules are rules but it seemed like the lady who came to the front had already made up her mind about not wanting me to dine in her restaurant. I was really looking forward to it since the reviews were so good, but I am very disappointed by how I was treated here.

Great place to stop on that desolate stretch of interstate 70. My husband and I had breakfast there, the food was great and the bread was superb! The owner and her daughter are upbeat personalities and very gracious. Highly recommend, was a positive experience.

The worse biscuits and gravy I've ever had gravy was like wallpaper paste biscuit was hard!Customer service was horrible brought our food and never came back no refill on the coffee,,no glasses of waterI had to buy water. I questioned a charge on my bill and guess it upset her. I ordered a side of sausage didn't get that.Needless to say we won't be back I do have to say the toast was good.
