This is a pretty sweet place to stay if you're vacationing or driving through Kansas. I stayed here for 2 nights a few years ago and had a great time with my family. Each staff member we came across was so nice and seemed like they truly enjoyed their job. I mean who wouldn't when you're dealing with animals? There are several different rooms that you can choose from when booking and each one has a different theme. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. There's lots of space and we were comfortable throughout our stay. Since this place is really out in the middle of nowhere it doesn't seem to get much business because there was only one other family that was there when we were. It's nice and quiet and you can get a feel of what life is like for these workers. I loved that we were able to get a little tour the next day and feed some animals for breakfast. The goats are so fun and the kangaroos were cool to see up close and pet. They had lots of other animals and it was cool to see what all they were working with. Overall, this is a fun stay if you have kids or just want to have some fun at a small zoo for a few nights.

Excellent animal tour! Haley, the daughter of the owners, gave us a tour and it was an experience we'll remember with our three young kids for a loooooong time! With her Midwestern hospitality, she took us around the sprawling complex, told us all about the animals, allowed us to feed them, and let us stay for as long as we liked! It was well worth the hour or so we spent and if we didn't need to head back to KC any sooner, we could've stayed longer! She was excellent with kids! We would definitely go again with family or friends!

Hedrick's is an amazing experience if you are ever near Hutch. Don't listen to the negative reviews. You cannot just show up and go on a tour. You need to make reservations in advance as a tour guide is required to walk around the farm. Tours run $25 for a group of up to 5. Each additional person is $5. They allow you to feed giraffes and kangaroos with food provided by the tour guide. They have the largest population of white camels in the US.You can also sign up for camel and pony rides (60 lbs and under for pony rides). Really cool experience for us and our kids. The tour takes about an hour. I recommend making reservations a week in advance. They have a bed and breakfast as well.

Hubby & I went to Hedrick's Exotic Animal Farm and Bed & Breakfast for his Birthday. The Staff was so nice and accomodating! From Kathy who booked our room about 2 months ago -- to Caitlin and Collin who did our Evening and Morning Tours of the Animals. I didn't get everyone's name (unfortunately) but EVERYONE was WONDERFUL!!The Breakfast was good -- with Coffee, Tea, Fresh Fruit, Various Breads, freshly made Pancakes & Blueberry Pancakes, Yogurt, Cereal, some kind of Sausage and Egg Casserole and Juice. We went on the Evening Tour with Caitlin -- which was followed by an 'Evening Snack' of freshly baked Chocolate Chip Cookies and Koolaid. After Breakfast, we did the Morning Tour with Collin and then Camel Rides!! Turns out that Collin's Mom was in charge of the Rides -- his Dad was the Camel Ride Escort around the property and his Sister was there to help me DISMOUNT the Camel, Mathis! We returned to the Inn and their Gift Shop was OPEN and we each got a Hedrick's T-Shirt. Then we ran upsyairs and washed our hands -- checked over the room and then checked out.Would we go back -- You Betcha!!

We visited a couple of years ago, we were going to the Kansas State Fair with an exchange student from Germany. I very much enjoyed the experience... and was looking for information to go back when I ran across some not so flattering reviews here on Yelp and thought they weren't extremely fair.First, it's a family run farm that happens to have a bed and breakfast. You go here to see the animals. The rooms were not romantic but well suited for a family trip for a day or two as you tour the farm, play with the animals and relax. It's not a 5 star resort, so don't expect that. It was clean, comfortable and much like everything in the country, slow and relaxed. We didn't have any problems with the staff, but it's pretty clear, taking care of the animals is their first priority, then their guests, which makes since, it's a real functioning farm with a lot of animals... so if you don't have time to wait for the Giraffe to get rangled into a barn before getting attention from someone, you might be headed to the wrong place... but on the other hand, if you think watching a giraffe get rangled is great fun and part of the fun, I highly recommend Hedrick's.My absolute favorite experience was playing with their giraffe, Benjamin. It's why I'm looking to go back. Benjamin is super friendly, loves people, appears to have a hilarious sense of humor and really interacts with the guests in a way that is amazing. Outside of my own dog, it was one of the most profound animal - human experiences I'v had. So if for no other reason, stay overnight at Hedrick's to have the chance to visit with Benjamin. It's probably worth while to make sure he'll be at the farm and not on tour somewhere before you book your rooms.

We have stayed here several times. It's a great places for a romantic trip or to celebrate an event. We have had several family reunions here. The evenings are quiet, so we play games and get caught up on conversations. The tour was fun. All ages were entertained . My favorite part is always feeding the giraffes. Fun times!! We can't wait to go back.

I stayed at Hedrick's overnight in 2015 and then did a tour in December 2017. I am originally from Hutchinson so when I take my young kids there I like to take them to do something fun. This review is painful to write because the animals are great - where else can you pet a giraffe! - but the service at this place is AWFUL. Kathy in the front office has been beyond rude to me and my kids both times we've been there. I recall being upset about it last time but since my kids kept asking to go back I decided to swallow it, and she was even ruder this time. They definitely gave us more time and food to feed the animals when we stayed the night, and I think we would have been disappointed with just the tour if that had been our first time. Such a neat concept, such terrible, terrible customer service.
