We took my wife's dinner club of retired school teachers. Everything was perfect!Great breakfast each morning. They were very helpful with suggestions on activities in the area. (I recommend a trip out to Red Oak II to see artist Lowell Davis' work). Our group of 8 participated in their Murder Mystery over 3 days. It was very fun!

We stayed at this charming B and B in July, 2011. When we arrived we were asked what we wanted for breakfast, and Jeannie prepared a very good breakfast each morning. The room was well furnished for a historic house. The room, the Mark Twain Room was comfortable. You will probably like this place. This is on Route 66.

We just returned from holding a retreat at the B&B. Jeanne was a fabulous host and this was the perfect place for our retreat. She did sooo much to make this a special gathering. The place is wonderful and the food is amazing! It was our first annual (or semi-annual) and we will be back again.

My daughter and I came to Carthage for the annual play at Grace Episcopal Church and stayed over night in the Nathanael Hawthorne room. The blend of period furniture with modern amenities was tastefully done. We enjoyed the two person jacuzzi. Dove Toiletries were provided and the convenience of a private bathroom was appreciated. Linens and towels were very clean and fresh and the bedding was warm and regal. Breakfast was omelettes cooked to order with fruit and juice. Coffee was good and available in the foyer as well as the room and bottled water and an assortment of tea and soda was provided in the foyer. The parlor was comfortable and the original stained glass was gorgeous. We intend on returning to stay with the Goolsbys again.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Laura Ingalls Wilder room. We had a wonderful stay. Jeanne was very nice and accommodating. She also made us the best breakfast you can get in Carthage. The room was very comfortable. We were able to peek into the other rooms and they looked very nice as well. I definitely want to stay here again in the future.

Had a wonderful time. My wife and I stayed on the 3rd of July while traveling. Jeanne was a great host. The house was built in 1890's and is still a magnificent home. All the stained glass is original! We stayed in the Mark Twain rm with a king bed. Very very comfy. Room as very nice, clean and airy. Jeanne gave us a tour of the house all the rooms looked just as assume as ours. One rm even has a whirlpool tub! After we went ti dinner we sat out on the front wraparound porch and watched the fireflies. All in all a very quite and restful stay. Breakfast was a wonderful omelet with fresh fruit, yogurt, scone, coffee or tea if you prefer. Very filling. My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay and will stay there again next time we are in Carthage.
