Whenever I'm motivated enough to consistently make it to the gym, Genesis north offers what I'm looking for in a gym. I've previously purchased sessions with a personal trainer and they are very considerate to my fitness level. They offer tasty shakes for after your workout but they have ran out of ingredients on a few occasions.

Good equipment that is well maintained. Friendly and courteous staff. Where they really excel is with the instructors that teach classes there. All are great teachers and motivators. Some people (like me), need the structure of organized classes to get me there. They do a great job in getting me to do the work that I need to do to keep myself healthy.

This (the North) location is great, very new, very clean and impressive facilities. (The other two locations in Topeka are gross, reek of BO, and I always feel like I need to be armed in the locker rooms). I was grandfathered in with my Max Fitness membership when Genesis purchased them, and have been less than impressed with every other location (both the other two in Topeka, and the two in Manhattan). This location is brand-new, and seems to actually be cleaned regularly (the other two could use a lesson or ten). These guys will get 4 or 5 stars when/if they ever give us 24-hour access again-- as that was the reason I joined Max to begin with.

I only go to the North location and I love it. Everyone there has been so helpful to me. Someone acknowledges you with a smile every time you walk in the door. The entire facility, including the locker room is clean and maintained. I have some health issues so I work with one of the personal trainers. She is fantastic. I couldn't ask for a better place to work out.

Was told I could pay for just one month. An IPAd was brought to me to sign and initial my one month contract nothing was explained just sign here. Turns out I was fooled into a 2 year contract. Even though I explained I didn't want more than one month because I have exercise equipment at home and would not be returning when school began.

I am not able to use the facilities anymore as I have some health issues and my doctor says I need to use aquatics only. This place doesn't offer aquatics. So I told them I needed to cancel my subscription including I had lost my job due to my health issues and they want $199 or I can be dead. A medical doctor says I can't use what they offer and they won't let me out of my contract. It's all about money for them. No concern or anything about my situation. Very disgusted about their practices.

Felt like buying a car when walking in to ask for a gym tour. Had to answer a very invasive health questionnaire before even looking at a treadmill. After an exhaustive explanation that I was looking into gyms for mental health reasons, they cornered my husband and I in an office for $89/month for 2 of us to join. ABSOLUTELY terrible experience. whoever the "head sales" guy was, intimidated me into joining. I started to cry and left without signing anything. absolutely terrifying experience if you're looking for a healthy lifestyle.

This gym is the perfect size! Never have issues with getting on equipment or space in classes. They are super friendly and the classes and instructors are great! The gym is clean and the people are friendly. Great gym!

DO NOT DO IT! A personal trainer stole 3 sessions from me before he quit. My "home" location ignored the situation, a different location gave me my sessions with another trainer and then this pandemic hit. Nobody's fault. BUT they are still charging me even though I'm month to month and want to cancel, I need to go into the location to actually cancel!! There is a credit that you can get I guess but the manager could not even explain to me how to receive this credit! Horrible customer service and extremely money hungry!

Where do I start?I given Genesis three times to take my money and it gets worse every time. They are the only club in town with a day care, so I am left with no choice, get frustrated, and try to give Genesis another chance. The first two times I had to spend at least 20 minutes on the phone trying to squeeze out an answer of how much they were going to charge me. I'm not going to waste my time and come in if you aren't giving me a fair price, that is why I am calling. The last time I accepted their outrageous price and decided to bite the bullet. I called and after another 20 minutes and THREE different prices later I finally got an answer out of the sales guy. I let him know that I was there because they were the only place with child care and asked what I would need to bring in.. He said just yourself and your account info. Cool. So I go in the next day and they tell me I need a voided check. For sure an inconvenience but do-able. So I leave my ID with the sales clerk and head to the bank to have a check printed so I don't have to go all the way home. I return to an empty lobby with my drivers license sitting on the lobby table, in plain sight, right in the entrance, unattended. Along with my whole personal info sheet.. Filled out. Unacceptable. This is where I started to really get frustrated. Lastly, I double check with the clerk to confirm the price and the child care (literally why I am there in the first place) and he said no, that will be an extra $20 a month before tax. So this makes the fourth price they have given me.. So who knows what they actually would have charged my account. I don't trust them enough to take the chance. The nice wore off and I asked to speak with a manager and that didn't get me anywhere either. I called the corp. office and I'm waiting for a call back, who knows if I'll ever get one. Jeez Louise.
