Genesis Health Clubs - East Harry

The change from VASA...not great. Genesis reads more like a generic gym now. Staffing is FAR less although I felt VASA was overstaffed at times anyway, but it seems to have swung in the opposite direction. I don't recognize many of the new staff so it appears not many former staff made the transition. The wipes for machines have run out on me twice, something that never happened for me personally with VASA. A bunch of the cardio machines are either unplugged or inoperable I noticed today. No one really greets you as you enter or says anything to you when you leave. Look, can you get your work out in still? Absolutely. That part hasn't really changed. Also, my VASA pricing is technically locked in for the switch in companies but I do feel guests are getting far less with Genesis than with VASA. VASA had its own host of issues, don't get me wrong but don't expect anything exemplary or unique with Genesis. I am also seeing all over social media I guess Genesis is extremely hard to break contract with so beware. I remain a member for now but definitely will be open to other gyms in the future.

I've been to lots of gyms over the years. Overall, this is a really good gym. I drive from Derby to go here. Allows enough time for my pre-workout to kick in jk, but it is worth the drive. Variety of options and everyone is mostly motivated. Don't see as much social hour amongst gym goers as you do at other gyms, which is motivating, yet people are still friendly.It also has a sauna which is a major plus.The staff works hard too.

Several gyms to choose from. Move facilities and a good selection of weights, both machine and free. Shower areas and towels included. William was great at us up for a week as we were visiting the area!

These people are horrible. Shady business practices, shady managers. Will not stop calling and texting me. I inquired about their prices online and specifically requested not to receive communication, and they haven't left me alone ever since. This gym is closer to my work but I will drive extra just to not go to a gym that has predatory business practices! Oh, and their discounted rate that they'll try to sucker you into is still three times as much as other gyms in town. No way in hell I would ever go to this gym or recommend it.

Transition between gyms is a mess. They randomly just changed their hours of operations without sending out an email. No email or anything. Then, they try to bribe you to stay with them once you cancel your membership. The worst customer service I have seen to date.Vasa at least sent out a change in their app when they were here.I really wish Vasa was still here.Edit: they closed early again on Labor Day without notifying us. Guy at the counter pointed at the door and said they notified us. Well yes, I have to show up to see your sign on the door. This place has horrible management.

Went to Genesis on E Harry street today. Very disappointing. No towels, dirty showers, unfriendly staff. Asked front desk workers for shower towels and they looked at me like I was from Afghanistan, like this was an irrational question. All Kansas City locations provide towels, shampoo, and conditioner to use after work out, even at their lowest level gold gyms. I would not recommend this gym to anyone that is a member of Genesis and here out of town due to lack of amenities.

Had a very odd incident happen yesterday at the Genesis on Harry where I'm a member. Got what felt like an interrogation an accusation and my integrity questioned on presenting a 7 day trial pass for a friend that wanted to check the gym out with me. Got asked who did I get it from, when, did I just grab it off someone's desk basically asking me if I stole it and also some comment about me possibly finding it on the floor, this guy basically acted as if anything could've happened except an employee gave it to me. I Was told that today he could go in but next time the managers might have a problem with it which I was sure there was one or two managers standing there listening to this interaction and why would the managers have a problem with someone using a trial they offer is still unclear. Also, he made it seem like he was doing me a favor with a somewhat aggressive tone. I've heard a lot of negatives about this company overall but never anyone getting crazy pushback from trying to use a trial pass provided by one of their people. Was slightly embarrassing and even the person I was with was trying to figure out what just happened. Doubt he'll be joining after today.
