Garmin

Our family has been using Garmin for a while. Garmin is a very convenient and affordable GPS to drive around USA. In my experience, it works a lot better than downloadable online applications. However, this GPS often stops working in Wichita and I am wondering why. Last month, we had to drive the same place again and again while we were exploring Wichita.

I've been a Garmin user for awhile and I've always been here impressed by their running watches especially. When the watch actually works, it's amazing, but mine stopped working after a year and half of using it, it didn't bother me too much since I was planning on upgrading it anyway. I got the forerunner 245 which cost me almost $300 and only had It for a few months before it caught on fire, and after multiple chats with customer service, all they could offer me was a used watch for $130. Garmin's always been my go to brand, but after this experience, I wouldn't invest so much in something I know won't provide me with complementary support. Just thought I'd share my experience.

This is one of the BEST companies in the country. My Garmin Approach X40 had all kinds of scratches on the crystal. It finally got to the point where I couldn't read the face at all so I called Garmin. They told me to send it back to them and they would either repair it or replace it. I mailed it priority mail on a Friday, on Monday I received an email telling me they received it, on Wednesday I received another email telling me they were shipping it back to me. I received a brand new X40 on Friday! What wonderful customer service! I was so pleased to be informed every step of the way. It is just wonderful to deal with a company that stands behind their products.

I purchased a Garmin NUVI GPS at the costco about a year ago. It worked really well for just under a year, until it literally went blank while I was driving, leaving me stranded. I was out about $200. But i thought, oh well. It's an electronic device, so things happen. I just purchased a new one from Sams's club. I am following the instructions to set it up and activate the lifetime maps etc. only to find that Garmin requires people to install software on their computer to download the maps etc. That's ok too, but they don't make the software compatible with all computers. So, i will end up having to do one of two things - buy a new computer, or return the garmin gps device. on top of it, their support is terrible! I would highly recommend not purchasing anythingn from this company that doesn't respect people enough to provide methods of using their devices that dont' require people to buy new computers or waste hours trying to slog through their poorly designed support.
