Now before I even get started with this, let me make it clear that I'm not a bona fide gamer. I don't spend my hours glued in front of a big screen television playing all of the latest games. What I am is an old school video game lover. Once upon a time I was the owner of a PlayStation one and over the years It got misplaced. I've been telling myself for a while to try to find a way to get another one but with new games and consoles being introduced all the time, I feared that I would never be able to find an original classic. When I googled play station one in search of trying to find places that sold them I was led to this place. I looked at the reviews and they seem to be a spot that a lot of people approved so I decided I'd give them a call. When I called them and told them that I was looking for an original PlayStation one, I was immediately surprised that they had it. Not only did they have it, the price that they were selling it for was extremely affordable especially in these days and times. But before I could commit to buying it I had one more question for them. The number one game that I love to play on the PlayStation one was Tekken 3, and when I asked them if they had that, they stated that they did. At that point I was sold and I came in the next day and purchased my PlayStation one and my game Tekken three. After receiving the game. I immediately came home and hooked it up and I noticed a problem right away when it took me five attempts to get the game to come on before it would. When I seen that it came on I was willing to forgive the five tries, until I turned off the game and went about my business and came back hours later to play again only to find that the Console would not come on at all. I decided that I was going to take the console back and demand either a replacement or a refund. When I arrived they were so friendly and helpful. They immediately discovered that the problem was the power cord to the game. They quickly issued me a new power cord and assured me that if there were any more problems they would be more than happy to fix it at no extra charge. I brought the cord home hooked it up and I have been in tekken land ever since. Now that I've talked about my experience I will talk about the layout of the store. They do have a lot of retro games. They do have Nintendo, the wii and all of the other games, but what I saw that I haven't ever seen before was they have a gaming room. Set up with gaming chairs, different sizes of TVs and they said they virtually have any game that you were interested in playing. You can pay a price to play for an hour, or half a day or all day. You can pay for snacks while you play games. Unfortunately they won't let you in the room unless you're going to play games in there but I did get a sneak peek as a kid came out to switch out games. This has become a popular hang out in the Topeka area and now I know why. I literally saw parents bringing their kids to this place and coming back to pick them up later. Maybe one day just out of curiosity I may go and play a game for an hour just to see what it's like. They also state that you can throw gaming parties. So if you are into classic games like me or you are a bona fide gamer this is definitely a place you want to check out

Gamers HQ is the best game store in Topeka, if not the entire world. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, an awesome owner who's a giant nerd himself, honest prices, great trade in values, and a very welcoming atmosphere are all the things you need to know about this local business. I've been buying my games and accessories at Gamers HQ since they opened. I think my first trip in was to trade in some games, and when they gave me 3x what GameStop or CD Tradepost would have given me, I knew I found my new store. On top of that, they don't turn around and jack up their prices on used merch. They get it! They aren't going to charge $50 for a game that came out a year ago (unless it's Zelda! Or super rare) like those other game stores.Gamers HQ also gives back. They are constantly running deals to give gamers money back on games bought (buy a new game, get $10 back store credit) and they are always doing giveaways on social media as they give away gift cards and free games. I feel like they are an active part of the community and they bring people together through their store. I'll always recommend Gamers HQ to anybody who loves video games.

These ppl really tried to give me 45$ for a 180$ controller wow and try to say my controller was drifting yeah right but went to Game Stop Nd they gave me 80$ Nd they said that there was nothing wrong with it like I didn't know that from the start. Ppl just want a fair shake when they sell their stuff not get robbed even though 80$ wasn't good either but damn 45$ is a slap in the face, so ppl be aware when these places try to get over on you thinking you don't know what you have always get a second opinion

Thank You So, so much Gamers HQ!!! Your crew working 01/16/2020 was the bomb!!! Not only were they exceptional, but they not only helped me, they helped my mom, who is an old time gamer! Not once did she or I feel like we were being rushed or dumb for the questions we were asking. My mother and I have been looking for a place we felt comfortable, and that we didnt feel like prices were to high! We've found the place. Gamers HQ will continue to get our business, and I suggest, anyone looking for a place where the staff is nice, informed, and polite, please go visit Gamers HQ!

Attended a birthday party here and had a really good time. Didn't spend much time in the store but I had a great time over at the gaming area. A lot of good gaming choices and comfortable seating. Played online and the connection was great. Didn't have to deal with any lag. This would be a great place for any kids party that loves to game

What a fun store! They have a nice selection of used games, including plenty of Japanese imports. Their prices are fair. You could find some of the games for a lower price if you wanted to stalk eBay, but if you wanted a game that day and didn't want to deal with shopping around online, you're not going to pay too much. (Maybe a couple extra dollars, but it would be worth the convenience). It's also a nice atmosphere. It's bright and spacious, and the games are well organized. There's also a section of the store that's partially walled off with TVs and game systems so I guess you could go play group games? The first time I visited the store there was no one back there, but the second time I came in there was a group of young boys having fun on the systems. There is also comfy looking seating in the main area of the store, which a dad was using to relax in and read while his son (I'm assuming this relationship) played XBox or whatever with his friends :)The staff is friendly as well, which is always nice. They're willing to talk about games and answer any questions you might have, so it's good to be able to get feedback if you're not sure about a game. Although I live in Manhattan, I'd find it worth the drive to check out Gamers HQ on occasion.

Good customer service, cool game room that let's you pay time to play video games. Locally owned, so you get better customer service than at a franchise in Topeka.

Call ahead! We had a lil trouble actually getting in to use the gaming lounge, but the owner/manager was amazing and hooked us up and was super apologetic. We finally got in for our gaming party and it was awesome! Easily could fit 20 people with parents and guests walking around. There was an employee with us the whole 3 hours and he was super friendly and helpful. No hassles. No drama. If your kids like video games have their birthday party here! It's super affordable and definitely worth it.
