Righteous Dining Finding a hidden away gem is always a great thing and Fuglys takes it a step further. Righteous? Well since it is housed in an old church (complete with its original steeple) it is hard to miss. Employees even tell stories about customers saying things like, "I was baptized right over there by the bar!" Charm - you bet. Parking should never be an issue (did you ever see a small town church that did not have a big parking lot?). Inside it still has the warm feeling of old wood and relaxing atmosphere. The focal point is the curved bar and surrounding tables. The menu is standard comfort food and reasonable prices. Burgers, steaks are good starting points, complementing the full service bar Service is friendly efficient. For lunch I highly recommend the steak sandwich while friends rave about their steaks! So if you ever find yourself on Highway K you owe it to yourself to pull off into East Lynne and look for the steeple. It's always a great time for a beer or cocktail, followed by a relaxing meal served with a smile by a friendly staff!

My visit was in the late afternoon on a weekday, so it was pretty quiet when I was there. Happy hour prices were in effect, can't go wrong with $1 domestic draws!Operated by Modern Day Veterans Post 295, Fugley's (aka The Assembly of the Drunken Brethren Church) is a bar & grill built from a converted century-old church. (Maybe century+ ?)The building's history results in the interior being one of the most beautiful bars I have ever visited (my pictures don't do it justice), with much of the original woodwork exposed.Where the pulpit once stood there are now some games and a stage, where there were once pews there are now bar tables and pool tables. The bar itself is V-shaped and occupies most of one of the long walls. There is a kitchen but I didn't look over the menu during my visit. I understand they host an annual hog roast, I need to find out when that is and pay another visit. :)

We thought with the reviews they had, it would be a good place to try. Our mistake! We arrived and they were really busy, we put our name in, because the server told us a couple people at the bar were getting ready to leave and it wouldn't be long. What she failed to tell us, is there were 2 other couples waiting for those same seats. We probably could have been seated, but the Owner/Manager was occupying 2 seats and had no intention of giving them up. Needless to say, we left. Just tell us the truth, so we can make our own decision.

We'll this is a small town restaurant and bar it's VERY casual. We've been there a few times now and have meet locals and people from across the state. The service was great and our steaks were one of the "Best" we've had even in some 5 star restaurants. It's small so get there early. They do allow smoking so if you don't like that this is not your place, however no one smoked around us. The 5 stars was for the food and great service.
