Possibly the best coffee my husband and I have ever had. On our way to Montana from Dallas, found it on Yelp. Saved our whole day! We were driving with our three small children and coffee was critical for survival. This place was amazing. Tiny but top notch. Really truly fine coffee. Wish they had coffee this good in Dallas! Puts Starbucks to shame.

Best coffee in wichita. The owner trained with Alfred Peet in SF and has a couple large roasters inside which are fun to look at. The decor is a bit eclectic and there's not much room to sit inside. There are some tables outside when the weather is nice. You can buy beans by the 1/2 lb or 1 lb. No free cup of coffee with the purchase of a pound, but everything is so good, the decor and nothing else really matters. The descriptions of the origin roasts are cute, too. He really knows his coffee and its worth waking up at horribly early hours to get your caffiene fix.

The number of times I tried to get up early to visit Fresh Roast is a story unto itself, but when I finally managed to make it to Clifton Square before 11:30 on a Saturday, I was surprised to find - like apparently all places in this complex - what once used to be a house, with the interior minimally gutted to turn it into a place of business. In this case, the small space had some counters lining it for the preparation and storage of coffee stuff, and the centerpiece of the room, occupying easily a quarter of it, was the large roaster doodad. These were obviously folks serious about coffee, though not so serious on establishing a proper coffeeshop. There's not even enough space to separate the customers from the employees. You enter the place and you're standing next to the cashier, with the barista extraorinare prepping drinks not far behind him. You place your order and then you can sit on one of the few stools in the middle of the room while you watch it being prepared. While the espresso machine certainly looks fancy, they're still tamping on a bathroom scale, and the basic black coffee I ordered was prepared using a pour-over method that's both retro and bleeding-edge trendy at the same time. The end result is a cup that's very rich up front and ends with a smooth finish on the palette. I was drinking this as I was driving around the city looking for someplace for lunch, and by the time I was nearing the end of the cup I was flying on a caffeine high that is unparalleled though legal means.Wichita doesn't have a lot of coffee roasters (the only ones that come to mind are Fresh Roast and the Spice Merchant), so that combined with the incredibly kitschy space make Fresh Roast a sight to behold.

I don't live in Wichita, but my brother does and he told me about this hometown gem. What an amazing cup of coffee! Tim and his family are the most personable, nicest people you'll meet. They always recognize you and have a friendly hello. The coffee is the best tasting coffee I've ever had--and I drink tons!--and it's the most wonderful example of a local merchant doing what's right for his neighbors. I make it a priority to stop by Tim's Fresh Roast Coffee Co. every time I'm in town and to bring a pound or two of his amazing beans home with me. Go, people! You won't regret it!

I was in from New York for a weekend recently and stopped by this place based on the reviews. Ended up buying a bag of fresh roasted Kenyan beans to take back home with me - the smell alone is intoxicating, but the cups I've been making since then are even better. Highly recommend checking this out if you're in the area, and Tim was lovely to stop and chat with while there.

Is this place cute or what?$2.50 espresso came in a lovely cup that I got to keep - and, I get 50 cents discount if I bring it back! This is a definite repeater for me to get the java jolt during my Wichita visits. I'm super glad to find this place. Comfortably awesome.

This is my review, check out the photos and more on my blog, http://www.jakeramstack.com/2011/11/fresh-roast-coffee-co.htmlOne of my favorite coffee places to stop by is the Fresh Roast Coffee Co. in College Hill. A little walk-up or walk-in mini house that serves the best of the best. A hidden gem. For nice days, they have a seating area...Only open in the mornings, you have to go when it's hot. Grab it on the way to work or you will miss out. On Saturdays it's open till noon. The drinks are really caffeinated - with a big jolt.Enjoy your drink inside or out, while you listen to their jazz music playing above. A great atmosphere to relax or start your day. Buy a cup, or purchase by the pound!Tons of different flavorings you can add.Inside the little house, they have this huge coffee roaster. You wouldn't believe how great this smells inside. Each cup is made by hand and brewed on order. They have great flavor specials and also awesome iced coffee, where they make their own ice cubes out of coffee, so when your drink melts, it doesn't get watery. The finest beans around in house.Located on the North side of Douglas, 3700 East Douglas, Ste 2. Contact them at 316-778-0846Overall, an awesome place to go. Best coffee in town!

Best coffee in Wichita. Only thing available is a $2 shot of espresso, beans by the pound or half and free sample of the coffee that was roasted the day before. Only open Saturday 8am to 10am which sucks but is also probably a good thing because I'd never leave this place.

If you love coffee, you'll love this place! The owner, Tim, loves coffee too, and it shows in everything he does. He imports beans from all over the world and roasts them on the premises. Each cup of coffee is slow-drip and made to order. You've never had better coffee, I guarantee. The actual place is just a little shack. It's hard to find, but once you do, you'll be bringing your friends there. Open from 7am to 11:30am, Monday through Saturday. Be sure to buy a pound of coffee for home while you're there.

It was an excellent experience. The coffee is superb. The gentleman that owns this company is friendly, kind and personable. He always offers free samples. I really don't like any other coffee compared to his.
