Field House

If ever there were a place that that just reeks of nostalgia and Shocker pride, Field House would be that spot. Tucked on the periphery of the Wichita State University campus, nestled among frat houses and dilapidated dorms (does anyone even live in Brennan Hall anymore? Is that even a thing?), Field House has been a stalwart since my days as an overly ambitious coed with an ego as unending as the construction on Kellogg. With beer options as varied as Miller Light, as craft as ShockTop, and liquor options that stop just short of Fernet, the Field House isn't for city slickers with perfectly coiffed cowlicks hoping to sample artisan cocktails, and imbibe in sipping tequila. It is however, the perfect spot for those of us in our late 20s and early 30s who never forgot the power of a $5 you-call-it, and the allure of a bartender whom we grew up with, and had a crush on 15 years ago. If you're looking for an economical way to lap away your sorrows and meet a stranger that you'd met once before at the SigEp house a decade or so ago, Field House will deliver. But unlike the days of my reckless youth, I am now old enough to sip my Frio with class, and only occasionally take over the Touch Tunes juke box to put Saves the Day, Panic! At the Disco, and Alkaline Trio on blast. I am also young enough to get straight up drunk on Rumple Minze, eat a bag of cheese Doritos, and toss darts errantly at a dart board or a wall, whichever happens to appear closer at the time.

Want to relax? Soak in the local atmosphere? This place is awesome. Great drink prices and laid back friendly bartenders. Close to campus with mIx of locals, college kids, all ages and people hanging with a charming vibe.

I have a bet with anyone who will take it. I bet that I can walk into The Field House and know at least 3 people. That may not seem like much but I haven't been there since 2002.I spent nearly every day of my post 21 college career (sadly only a year) in The Field House, which is just across the street from the Wichita State University campus.It's a standard college bar, couple of pool tables, serious dart players playing on the 2 boards, sweet jukebox and a foosball table. Room to move; not so much.Drinks are ridiculously cheap and of low quality brews. Miller Lite might be the most highbrow draft beer in the place. Food consists of whatever microwaveable burrito/pizza the owner can pick up for cheap at Sam's. I often times would just bring my lunch or dinner with me and eat it at one of the 3 tables in the joint.Don't go here if you're over 30 and NOT an alcoholic or you will be judged to be an alcoholic. There was always weird over 30 dudes in there talking about when they were in college and hung out there. These people were generally not regarded highly.Do go here if you're in college because you'll have a bitchin' time (jeez I guess I don't meet the age requirement 'cause I'm still saying stuff like 'bitchin').

Best place to get a cheap beer, 21-28 year olds will love it during the school year. Monday nights they have awesome deals on there beer. A lot of TVs so it's prefect for sporting events. All around fun as hell bar!

One of my favorites, if only for the college memories. This place is a serious college bar. There is a pool table, some darts and a jukebox. Decent sized outdoor patio. Free popcorn (but they don't serve food, so look elsewhere for that). Good drink prices and awesome specials. It's pretty run down, but that gives it character. If you like a classy place, look elsewhere. But if you like a fun dive, try the Field House.

It's simple, college aged 21-28 during the school year, you won't find a better/cheaper/closer bar to Wichita state, period. Pool, darts, and the cheapest beer in town, is there anything more needed to be said?

Place is very messy and service is below par... if your wanting a good drink with decent service go else where...

Great atmosphre for college kids but they recently raised there prices to a point that drives away that crowd. I've been a loyal customer for years but I'm currently looking for other bars to go to

Best chill bar in town. Plenty of TV's and very friendly bartender. Definitely would recommend if you need a drink!

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Definitely recommend going to their VIP nights and getting the free steak and cheesy potatoes
