Sigh. This was a disappointing experience. While traveling for work, I decided to make it a nice weekend and spend the night in Topeka at the Cyrus Hotel. The room itself was nice but I am not sure what is going on with the service here. I left detailed feedback to management and have zero confidence in getting a response.Interacting with the staff here is like pulling teeth. While Topeka is not a luxury market, this is a luxury hotel, and other similar properties I've stayed at (The Current in Davenport, IA is one such example) still deliver big city customer service. We sat at the bar around 6:45pm on a Saturday night. The place was about half-full (empty?) which is always a bad sign. If a place is not busy on a Saturday night, there is something severely wrong. We ordered, drank our drinks, and paid, with as few interactions or words from the staff as they could possibly muster. Their take on a chocolate martini was absolutely one of the best drinks I've ever had in my life, hands down. I would've liked 3 or 4. Or 5 or 6, let's be honest. I would've even been talked into ordering what sounds like their sub-par food, just so I could stay at the bar and keep drinking those all night. But no one talked, or offered food, or offered menus, or suggested anything. I'm not going to do their jobs for them. I've been through it all: restaurants, coffee shops, dive bars and breweries. It's not always a good day at work, I get it. But like... you have to SPEAK to CUSTOMERS. I'm an adult, with things to do and places to be, and this bar + restaurant wasn't it.At the end of the day, I place the blame completely where it belongs: on management. Something is going on here that's causing major problems. Failing local economy, budget cuts, staffing woes (are you paying them enough?) -- I have no idea. But management needs to be IN the property on weekends and figuring it out. They need to actually read and respond to the automated surveys their parent corporation sends out. And hey, they need to be on Yelp, looking for fixes and offering solutions.

You can see the potential for a true 5 star experience in this stylish new facility, but there is a definite lack of attention to detail by the staff that is keeping it from realizing that potential. I don't think the owners/developers of this beautiful looking spot had an "Olive Garden-like Experience" in mind when they opened. The staff, dressed in all black apparently have never learned to operate an iron. Loose tucked, slightly faded and wrinkled uniforms abound. No personnel manning a host stand or welcoming customers. When we arrived a young man who was busy place setting a high top in the bar, speaking muffled through his mask and facing away from me was apparently inquiring who we were? After being seated and ordering cocktails from our gorgeous green velvet booth we waited more than an acceptable amount of time to receive them. The cocktails were well prepared and I would note here that the wine list by both the bottle and the glass is excellent. No bread or complimentary snack. That's right, I said NO BREAD at an Italian restaurant? We shared the ONLY salad option on the menu which is a Caesar. While it was generous in size and loaded with fresh lettuces (not a fan of kale in my Caesar, but hey), the dressing was lacking of any authentic flavor or even a hint of anchovy. Cheese was fine grated and clearly low quality domestic. As for the misshapen "crouton or toast" thrown on top, don't get me started! For mains I received a lukewarm serving of lasagna that I had heard good things about. Our waitress Rose, politely took it back, but returned with the same serving reheated in the oven, but lacking the sauce and garnish that were originally on the plate. It was tasty and had tremendous potential as a signature dish. My wife had the Linguine Carbonara and it was both hot and delicious. One other note, the wines by the glass we ordered did not arrive with the meal and after saying that she would bring them immediately, Rose stopped at an adjacent table and took their order first.I think with some proper training and attention to detail, this could become the dining place our city so badly needs.

We had dinner at Fedeli's last week before seeing a show at the Performing Arts Theater. The interior is nice and the hotel it's in seems pretty cool (CYRUS) so we were looking forward to trying this place out. We started with the charcuterie. Unfortunately, the board had been pre-made, wrapped in plastic, and refrigerated. The cold cheese was flavorless and the meats were hard from being so chilled. Not a great start. Next, we shared their wedge salad. Again, unfortunate. The salad was light on everything...lettuce, dressing, bacon, tomato. The only redeeming part of our meal was the entree. The Kansas City strip was cooked perfectly. We had asked for it without the chipotle butter because my wife doesn't like chipotle flavor, but it came with the chipotle butter on it regardless. The risotto, often the most difficult thing to get right at many restaurants, was perfect. So kudos on the steak and risotto. In aggregate, we will not be back. Though the place has aspirations to be more upscale, it just isn't.

A friend and I had lunch recently at Fedeli's. The lunch menu does not offer any pasta dishes, my reason for not rating it higher. But if you want brunch stuff, they have a small selection. We shared the bagel & lox board, which was good. I'll be back to try dinner sometime. The location and furnishings are very nice.

I didn't expect Topeka to be a culinary mecca of any sorts, and coming from Las Vegas, I knew that it might be tough to find a restaurant of similar quality. I wasn't expecting too much so I wouldn't be disappointed. However, there are just some basic qualities that every restaurant should have. Upon arriving, we (a group of 6 of us) walked into the bar. We were a little early for our reservations, but Open Table said that their happy hour started at 5pm (it was 5:30). (NOTE: Don't believe Open Table, I should have called directly.) The bartender looked dumbfounded when asked if we should sit in the bar area, or just go ask to be seated early for happy hour. As it turned out, happy hour was over. Wouldn't the bartender have known that? There was no one else in the bar, either, but the bar was very clean and the décor was very nice. Better than I expected. So, we proceeded to the adjoining hotel lobby, where we had to ask for our table. A little odd set up, but it is what it is. We were seated immediately, but then again, there were no other diners. The dining room was very nice and appealing. Even though my first impression wasn't that great, I still had high hopes due to how upscale the dining area looked, too. Service was horrible. Having to ask for drinks, and salt, pepper, and cheese was less than adequate. Wanted Sauvignon Blanc, but they didn't have it. Settled for Pinot Grigio. Ordered the Caesar salad, it was delicious. The Caesar dressing was perfect. Appetizer was the Panzanella. It was very good. It's more of a Caprese, and I was expecting more of a bruschetta, but it was good. I wanted arancini, but they were out of it. And for my entre, the spaghetti Bolognese. Very disappointing. I really don't like ordering Italian dishes out, because I am typically disappointed (Italian here and cook for myself mostly), but it sounded good. It came with meatballs, too, which I thought was odd to have meatballs with a Bolognese but, I welcomed the chance to try them. The sauce had no flavor, the meatballs were dry and dense and I only ate about 1/3 of my dish. Also....no Parmesan cheese. Total bill....$74.68 (for just my portion). Expensive for such disappointment. I don't mind paying for good food and service (I just spent $186 yesterday for a two-person lunch) but was over all, disappointed. On a good note, the flatbread was very good. We were not thanked and/or asked to come back. No friendly interactions with the staff. Had to ask another server to FIND our server so we could pay. Would I go back? Absolutely not! Would I recommend? Absolutely not! Choices are very limited in Topeka, but I would probably go somewhere else next time where I know what to expect as far as service and quality goes.

Had a wonderful dinner! Service was prompt and engaging. Food, superb. I had the Delmonico and it was one of the most perfectly prepared steaks I have ever had at an impressive price point. Special, eggplant parmigiana was equally delicious according to my spouse. Wine great, Tempranillo was nice, mature. Creme Bruelle also a perfect send off. Atmosphere very nice. Well worth a visit, as is the hotel. Great rooms.

Just OK, the salad was just okay. The Arincini did not have enough sauce. The ravioli was very good and a huge portion. The desserts were fine. Here is where they drop the ball. Bartenders never asked how things were plus they are always talking amongst themselves! Service is OK but should be better. Last thing, hotel is great and restaurant is convenient.

Came here for my anniversary tonight with my husband. We love the Cyrus hotel and stayed there on our wedding night so we were eager to try the food here. The hostess was very lovely, seated us well before our reservation time and was a pleasure speaking with. My husband ordered an old fashioned and returned it to bar due to the bee/fly floating in the bottom. Bartending staff were very apologetic and switched out a fresh one. No problems there, it's summer in Kansas and we know how flying insects can get in everywhere. Chef's feature and bone marrow were both out which was disappointing. We went with the focaccia instead, very simple and very tasty. My husband ordered the Delmonico steak medium rare and I ordered the shrimp with polenta + a side of asparagus. My shrimp was well cooked and well seasoned but the ratio of shrimp to polenta was enormous. The tomato's around the edge seemed like an afterthought and could've used a little char. Polenta was great but there was just too much on the plate. My husbands Delmonico was over cooked and a tad chewy and after waiting a minute for our waiter to notice us and come back to our table, we decided to just finish our night. When our waiter returned, my husband asked for the steak to be taken away, did not even ask for a new steak and we got a to-go box for the rest of our food. We expected a manager to at least stop by our table after returning a full Delmonico to the kitchen but that didn't happen. A sad ending to what should be have been a celebratory night. I don't think we will be returning again.

Ordered the ribeye, penne arrabbiata, and a caesar salad between the two of us. The ribeye had good flavor but was a little chewy. The pasta was nothing special and didn't have any spice to it. Caesar salad was good but it only comes with a tiny piece of bread as the crouton. It's a hotel restaurant so not surprised it wasn't great.

Our first visit and it was fabulous. Focaccia was grilled to perfection. Our Cesar salad was very tasty and loved the radicchio and torn croutons. The penne arribiata was spicy and exceptional while my strip steak was perfectly medium and the herb butter was sensational. The wine list was a little short but our muscadet and Tempranillo were both delicious. Saul was friendly and attentive. A new top of the list for us
