The fried chicken is awesome, the mashed potatoes are creamy not lumpy like a lot other places, and their deserts are the bomb. I honestly can't pick a favorite the banana cream, coconut cream or the cherry the crust is utterly amazing, Staff warm and friendly. The place was clean and southern hospitality. If you like southern cooking this is the place for you!

Food was straight fire. The service was ok and the ambiance is sort of like a dive bar without alcohol, and in not that good a way. The food though, was worth every penny. Pot roast with Okra, with a loaded baked potato and cottage cheese. Such a great piece of banana cream pie. Overall it was wonderful, I would go again for sure!

I went here for the first time at this location. I used to go to the old location years ago. The place was packed. The parking lot was full but we got lucky and got a parking spot when someone was leaving. The service was great, and the patty melt was really good.

Guess I decided to try this place at a bad time. Seated myself, no problem, ordered the blue plate special with two sides. Chicken fried steak with Cole slaw and Mac and cheese. Waited. Finally got the Cole slaw and nothing else. Finished the slaw. Waited. Finally got the chicken fried steak, was told no Mac and cheese, they were out. Ordered baked beans, ate the steak. Finally brought out the beans. Ate the beans. Waited. Finally got the check. Went to register. Waited. Finally paid and out. Food ok, slow service, atmosphere ok. Will not be back. If you go, take a side of patience.

I would recommend this place to my brother, sister, mother, father, grandmother, grandfather. Fat Ernie's has gone through a couple of name changes over the last 45 years. However, the ambience and the food remain solid. Yeah, when you walk in the door, you're going to take a time warp back about 25 or 30, maybe even 40 years. But the food is gonna make you happy. There is nothing on the menu that you won't recognize, or appreciate. Everything is solid, from breakfast, to dinner. Parking is a bit limited, but it is well worth crossing the street. Don't miss this spot.

It was packed but they got us seated, and after a few minutes a waitress took our order. We got a Pork Tender Sandwich, chicken livers, and catfish. It was a great. We will be going back.

Supposedly a community favorite. A too small establishment that centers around a comfort food palette. The food was acceptable, but nothing outstanding. My husband and I had the catfish, which was heavily breaded, and therefore the taste of the fish was lost. Our family member had the chicken fried steak, which she said was good. The strawberry rhubarb pie was served cold. The service was okay, considering the server was working more than her share of tables. She looked harrowed, so we didn't put too much on her. Ambiance is lacking, parking was anybody's guess, and our overall experience was meh.

I think you are supposed to cook the omelette long enough for the ham and cheese to be hot and melted...nope not here.
