El Potrillo Mexican Restaurant

We stopped in for a late snack and some drinks. My mango daiquiri came with tequila in it, so it was actually a margarita, but it was still pretty good. Chips and salsa were good. The quesadillas were stuffed! Well worth the price. Sever was nice!

Fast TexMex sit down restaurant. The salsa isn't anything to write home about. The queso was a bit too thin and for the amount in the dish, way overpriced. We ordered a meal with two burritos and sides and it was enough for two to share.

Went here last night with family members. What stood out most for me: The waitress. She was terrible and needs to learn interpersonal skills. She's just so abrupt and generally bitchy-acting. She brought drink straws and literally dropped them on the table and walked off. Walking off seems to be her thing, but she does it in such a way where she speaks no words...just walks off, which to me is synonymous with giving the middle finger. Then we went to pay and the guy (the manager?) could not get off the phone long enough to complete the transaction. The food was ok. Just ok.

Really excellent food all around. The salsa is flavorful and tastes fresh. The chorizo queso dip was phenomenal. Finally something different and new in a Mexican restaurant. You just have to try this. The meals were amazingly good too; full of flavor. The fajitas came out sizzling as they should. Much to my constant dismay, most restaurants don't bring it out sizzling anymore and they wind up looking like they have been sitting under a heat lamp for 20 minutes. So, kudos to El Potrillo for honoring a long standing tradition here. The tamales and Chile relleno as well are so amazing that I don't think I'll get them anywhere else. The tamale had a wonderful sauce on it that was beyond what you get at any other Mexican place. It was delicious. The Chile relleno was the biggest I have ever had and definitely a meal in itself. A good Chile flavor with warm gooey cheese in the middle and a yummy sauce on top. Charro beans here are also where to go if you don't like refríes. Full of bacon and flavor! All in all it was all delectable. The flan, which was a little too firm for my liking was still tasty too. I am not a fan of the hydrogenated whipped topping, which would have been better had it been real whipped cream. The fried ice cream was the only drawback from the experience. Vanilla ice cream rolled in corn flakes which were soggy and it was not very pleasant. I would not recommend this one. I would definitely recommend a trip to Hutch for this restaurant and I believe it will be well worth it. One last note: the prices here are the best you will find in all south Kansas.

My novio, his little girl and I were traveling through after a long night on the dusty road. It had been a long, humid day and we were hangry for comida y una bebida. This food place of the Spanish orientation came on the horizon and we dined like Reyes!

I've been here twice: never again. The food is microwaved "mexican" food of dog food quality. The jalapeno peppers came straight from the can -- in August! The carne asada is so tough it was like chewing an eraser. I have no idea why this place has survived. The parking lot is full of people who have never eaten quality tex mex as found in Texas, Colorado, or California.

Best Mexican food in Hutch! The chicken and cheese is really good. Plus the cold beer is amazing.

I love El Potrillo. One of my favorites for supper. The staff is usually friendly except the guy at the cash register is less than friendly. Knowing that it doesn't bother me because the food is so good. The prices are very reasonable also!

Nice interior. Friendly server. Reasonably priced. Chips were expensive and we're not very good with me and my wife. The cheese dip was way too thin - even when it cooled. Ranchero steak burrito was very good - came with standard beans and rice with fresh lettuce and sour cream($14) Restrooms were clean.

Disappointed for my first ever visit to this establishment. Although the waitress was nice her service was terrible at best. My meal was not prepared to the way I ordered it and it was so over cooked it appears they made zero attempts to make it correctly. Won't be returning
