This is my friend's "go to" Mexican restaurant. While it was okay, I think there has to be better Mexican in this town. There has to be, right? But I have already been to 3 different ones and I am beginning to wonder.This is definitely an "american mexican" restaurant. Chips and salsa are put down on the table when you arrive. The chips are quite good but I wish there had been a little more kick in the salsa.The menu is pretty big and maybe I ordered the wrong thing as my carne asada tacos were really just okay and they came with beans only. My friend had a burrito which looked a little better but everything lacked a little flavor.Clearly the locals like it as it was quite busy for lunch on the day I was there and the manager also told us to come back for their happy hour margarita specials.I guess I am still on the hunt for the best place to eat Mexican food in this town. Any suggestions?

Our visit here this past Saturday evening was a dud.Atmosphere & Service: We were seated in an awkward corner booth that looked like it was not meant to exist; we were practically surrounded by a wall and we wondered if anyone would notice us there. Well, maybe we were right to be concerned because we sat for fifteen minutes without anyone coming to get our drink order. We gave the waiter our food order as well since we didn't know when we would see him again. I asked for Sprite but was brought Coca Cola. I drank it anyway since I assumed (correctly) that we wouldn't see the server for a while and I was thirsty since I'd eaten some of the chips and salsa. The food came relatively fast comparatively, but then the server didn't come back to check on us until much later when we were ready to leave, so our empty drinks weren't refilled at all during our meal. Food: bland. The chips were not fresh and the salsa had no flavor aside from tomato. I ordered the fajita quesadilla and can confidently say I'd make it much better for myself at home. My husband felt the same about his burrito.Price: I wasn't paying too much attention because by the time the bill came we were running late, but whatever this cost was too much. Still forever searching for decent Mexican food in Kansas.

Came here once with the gf because she said "I used to come here all the time and the food was great."If only that statement had held true. Just another mediocre, average Topekan Mexican food experience. All the alcoholics tell me the point of this place is the margaritas and not the food... barf. This would be a two star review except when I went there the waiter was extremely over the top flirty with everyone. At one point I watched him put his hands on a customer, and massage them as she looked around at her family like "dude wtf."The vibes of this place will forever be stained by my first experience there, and I still have never returned, never will either.

Stop by here on a whim. The lively decorations and table tops were fun. Chips and salsa were good and so was the queso blanco. I ordered the taquitos and unfortunately there wasn't much flavor to them. After drowning them in the salsa and queso they were okay. I'd try something next time.

I visited El Mezcal for lunch on a Friday and it was fast, and hit the spot. Truth be told it's pretty average Mexican food, but it was tasty and to get an enchilada with rice and beans for 4.99 the price really can't be beat.

Stopped here on our way back to Junction City. Was not impressed, at all. I'm the type of person that tries to find the good with the bad, so here goes....The Good: We were seated relatively quickly and the chips and salsa arrived quickly, as well. Drinks were brought as soon as they were ordered. The meal I ordered was the Tacos Carne Asada. They were passable. I've had better, but they were still tender and came with a decent salsa verde and pico. But now, we get to the bad. And they're dealbreakers for me.The Bad: The salsa roja was pretty bad. I make better at home, and that is no exaggeration. But then again, it isn't hard to beat crushed tomatoes with almost nothing in it. The beans that came with my plate were orange. Never saw that before in any Tex-Mex joint I've been in. Our taco salad was swimming in sour cream. My son didn't eat it. The wait staff were my biggest complaint. They seemed either unfriendly or silently hostile and uninterested in serving people. I'm pretty sure our waiter insulted me under his breath while walking away after taking our order. That alone is the reason I won't be going back.

Service was TERRIBLE. We called in an order to go. The lady taking the order was extremely rude. When we got the food MULTIPLE things were missing and we had to go back to get it. We were charged for things we did not receive (chips & salsa). If you decide to eat at this restaurant make sure you look at your receipt before paying. If you order to go.. check the food and the receipt. P.s cashier lady... I hope every single day someone punches you in the face because you whole heartedly deserve it.

Food was good, service was amazing! Service was also really fast, the waiters are so nice!

So, I live in TX. I'm sick of TexMex! I always love coming here when I am in Topeka. I have never had anything that I was not impressed with. Wish they would come to Texas!! Plenty of parking.
