El Dos Mexican Restaurant

The service was great. The server was very friendly and service was quick. They were very busy although I am unsure as to why. I read the reviews and thought I would try based on them. I have never had a relleno that made me gag. This one did. The cheese in it was like watered down queso. The beams and rice were very bland. I never add salt to anything and even tried to see if that would help. It did not. The corn tortilla for the cheese enchilada was super thick. The red sauce was fine but nothing to write home about. Other places in town are way better, don't waste your money here if you are looking for good Mexican food.

I was staying in Hays during a road trip when I consulted yelp for a place for dinner. El Dos seemed like the place in Hays to get food so my husband and I drove over. I'm so glad we did because this place was a hidden treasure we did not expect to find. The service here was phenomenal. You can tell the family that runs it truly cares. The food was all delicious and the portions and prices were amazing. We were both really hungry after a long day on the road and our meals were perfect.

A typical "Americanized" Mexican restaurant, but still with an excellent range of items to choose from in the menu. The entrance is easy to miss but inside is bright and colorful! The staff was quick to seat and allowed me plenty of time to browse the entire menu. There's a wide selection of different types of burritos, enchiladas, tacos, combo plates, etc.I come to Hays often for work, and plan to add this place into my rotation of places to eat while in town!

From the outside, you may hesitate to go inside but you will be pleasantly surprised by El Dos! A young man (owner's son which you gotta love) greeted us right away and asked for our booth or table preference and then took our drink orders. His mom took care of the rest of our lunch and she was a pleasure to talk with. A+ for service. Food came out promptly and was delicious! Chips and salsa were tasty. We asked for the spicy salsa (so hot!) and a couple of us mixed it into the regular salsa. We ordered the taco salad, taco fajita salad, chimichanga, and burrito seco. We would all order them again. We're adding this to our favorite Hays stops!

Found this gem during our travels. The staff was friendly, restaurant was clean and fun with colorful ambience, and the food was excellent. Many things were a bit too spicy for me but my family loved it and there were some options for me to enjoy as well. My husband is still fixated on how good the Chili Colorado was.

We stopped in for dinner and had a great meal.The interior is warm and comfortable, really like how it looks and feels.Warm chips and salsa is put on the table with the menus, menus are big with lots of choices.The food was delicious, portions great but meat was lacking on the fajitas.Definitely aiming higher than Hays, has some flaws, but still a great meal!!

El Dos is a fantastic restaurant to stop and enjoy a delicious Mexican meal in Hays, Kansas. We traveled for several hours and needed some chips & salsa to keep us fueled for the road! We started off with some margaritas on the rocks along with the house made chips & salsa...amazing!! We also ordered the Pollo Cama (chicken, cheese, & pico de gallo) and the Arroz Con Pollo (chicken, cheese, peppers, carrots, zucchini), both served with rice and beans. Stop by El Dos in Hays, Kansas!

Excellent food- husband had a combo burrito; I had Carne Asada plate. Steak was flavorful, but a little tough. Service was excellent- would go there again. For Mexican food this is a little gem in Hays. Being from S. California this place holds up in comparison .

Colorful decor, staff friendly and service quick. The beans and rice okay but the chili relleno not good. I should have read Bria's review... the "cheese" is perfectly described as watery queso.
