El Dorado Mexican Grille & Cantina

Not really memorable, but not bad either. Just kinda basic Mexican/TexMex food & drinks. Our server was decent and fairly attentive. The whole place just seemed kinda old and dirty. The floors were sticky and our menus needed a good wiping down. Great complimentary chips and salsa!

The Lake Shawnee location has a nice ambiance and is a busy place but you will never have to wait long to be greeted, acknowledged and seated. The food is always prepared nicely and also quickly delivered for that matter. Attentive and friendly servers who do an amazing job. Highly recommend folks try it. Take-out is fast and convenient as well.

We love everything about El Dorado! The staff is amazing, friendly and always remembers us and our normal orders. The food is tasty and reasonably price and always comes out fresh and hot. The atmosphere is controlled and has a feel of being in a Mexican cantina with light music and authentic murals (we met the artist!). We've been eating here for years and have never been let down!

It's hard to rate this place from the first visit. I absolutely hated the salsa. It tasted like pizza sauce. There were 6 people in my party and only two of us hated it. The rest enjoyed it. I dont understand how, but here we are. HOWEVER the rest of the food was extremely delicious. There were no arguments on that. I got the half order of nachos and it was gigantic and amazing. The service was flawless. I hated the salsa so much that if I were by myself only eating salsa, this place would get 2 stars. But since everyone else liked it and the rest of the food was so food, more stars were given.

The place is solid, when it comes to capturing the taste of authentic Mexican food. I'm a Mexican-American transplant from Southern California and I know the most important measure of good Mexican food is the rice. For me if the rice is bad, it's usually an indication of what I can expect of the rest if the meal. I have visited El Dorado grill twice and the rice was excellent both times, consistency is important. Complementary chips and salsa were a nice start. On my first visit, I ordered a Chicken Enchilada which was delicious with a side of rice. My meal was very reasonably priced. My second visit, I ordered the Mole, which is typically harder to find in most Mexican restaurants. The Mole was excellent. It came with rice and beans and the serving size was very large. My dining companions had Chimichangas, Steak Burritos and the Seafood Salad. Everyone was very pleased and we will definitely be back. This is currently my favorite spot in Topeka to get Mexican.

The food is so good! Especially the chicken nuggets,and Queso the employees are so nice the tables and silverware are squeaky clean it's always packed and I always see people from my school here 5 stars!!!!

Ordered 2 meals to be picked up. It was a crowded Friday evening so I was concerned about how it would be (quality, timeliness, accuracy, etc). But I had nothing to worry about! It was ready when I arrived! And the food tasted amazing! We had flautas and pollo bandido with a large cheese dip and a side of refried beans. And all of it was cooked to perfection!! Will most def return soon!

Salsa 2/5 rice 3/5 beans 4/5 chicken tacos 2/5 Frozen strawberry margaritas 10/5.

Actually we really usually enjoy going here. Tonight however when my wife went to pay, they had a sign that said they have a .99 "Check out Fee" with no explanation at all as to what that is for, and it shows on the receipt. I have sent them a message through Facebook without a reply. I am so tired of being bogus fee'd to death over so many things. We typically come here at least twice, sometimes three times a week. I don't know if they're aware but you can't drive through Topeka without tripping over Mexican restaurants. Just for the petty, stupid .99 fee I will not return here.
