Food was freaking outstanding!!We tried the tempora fish tacos, the carne asada fajitas, and the bomba-which is basically all the ceviche together. So yum!! Service was slow & as attentive as possible, but it was because there was only one waitress. 9 people from 3 parties all came in at the same time & there were already another 5 tables at least. Ambiance overall was good, cute place but it's a little warm on a hot day with an all glass front. Tables & decor are adorable though. Definitely a unique place in ICT & worth a visit. Other reviews mention it's pricey & it is, but the product is worth it & authentic.

The food is good but we didn't get the best service. They really didn't seem interested in serving us with anything. For the price it would've been nice to revived a little attention

Really good food, prepared very well. A little more expensive. Service was slow. All hard surfaces, so very load. Mexican MTV playing on a big screen.

This place was delicious but PRICY! Came here on a Monday afternoon with a friend and it was not very busy. Maybe 3 tables seated at the time. Very nice and spacious restaurant with neat decor. Our waitress was nice and knowledgeable about the food/menu. I feel as though this area of Wichita doesn't get enough attention. Hopefully the word gets out because it's a really yummy place to eat! We were served with complimentary chips (thick and crunchy) delicious salsa and a side of soup too which seemed random but also good! The food we ordered was like 100/10. The shrimp although not my plate was so so good. Nice spice and flavor. Don't be afraid to get our hands messy because it's still attached to the shell so you do have to peel it yourself. The ceviche was packed with lots of flavor. Came with a side of tostadas. It's a one size only portion and it was huge! It had a much lighter vibe to it compared to the grilled shrimp. It was nice to try two entirely different things. Other than it being really pricy it was very good and I would definitely go again.

First time eating here. The good - * Bright clean interior* Super friendly staff* Lots of variety on the menu* Portion sizes were good* Prices were about what I'd expect (though appetizers don't seem to really be appetizers, as they were $20-$25 a plate)Items for improvement - * Bathrooms - not horrible, but could use a little attention/cleaning* Time from ordering to eating was pretty long, especially considering they weren't packed* Larger salsa cups for the chips and salsa - they put it in a 2" container which is a hassle to dip chips in* No breaded calamari strips! GASP :)Overall, a great place. My food tasted great, it's fairly uncommon in Wichita, and I'm glad to have this option. Definitely will be back.

We were a party of four there for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was half full but this was a holiday weekend. Other weekends are busy we were told. Mexicans dominated the clientele. Brenda, our charming server gave us great service. This place is in a strip mall and the ambiance is not great. But, the food is excellent. This is authentic Guadalajara based Mexican seafood we were told. You will not find anything Tex-Mex here. There is nothing like this in Wichita. It is slightly expensive but the portions are huge. There is no alcohol served except beer and beer based Mexican cocktails. Don't expect high end service. Despite Brenda being great, when we asked for an extra plate we were offered paper plates. We had the Mexican Sangria and Michelada for our drinks. Nothing great here. The food is the real story. We ordered the following items:1. Baby octopus appetizer: The octopus was chewy but the sauce was spicy and tart. Not bad but would not order again.2. Shrimp Zarandeados - Superb dish with about 10 grilled split head-on,shell-on, medium shrimp and a small portion of rice with a green spicy sauce. The quantity was enough for two. It was not very spicy but had complex Mexican pepper and garlic flavors. Difficult to replicate. Great presentation. Brenda said the shrimp were cooked on the " plancha". A little messy to eat because of the shells but no regrets.3. Tacos De Pescados: This was three fish tacos with crispy fried fish and a unique white sauce and fresh chopped onion and cabbage. Very tasty and filling. We could not finish this dish and had to box it. 4. Molcajete Mixto: Carne asada, chicken, beef ribs, sausage, chorizo and shrimp zarandeado. Accompanied by beans, nopales, queso fresco, Chiles toreados, onions and tortillas. Big enough for three served piping hot in a stone bowl. The beans were just extraordinary. We were pretty full at the end of the evening and skipped dessert. Will be back. There are a lot more interesting dishes on the menu.

My visit to El Capitan Restaurant and Grill was generally positive. The seafood Mexican dishes were delicious, offering a tasty blend of flavors. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp and it was great! However, I must note that the service was only average, which slightly impacted the overall experience. Despite this, I would still recommend El Capitan for those craving a flavorful seafood Mexican meal
