Decided to explore Newton, KS today. This is a bowling place gem. Pulling up to the place, I was uncertain. The lanes are very smooth unlike a lot of the big city ones. There are 12 lanes. Didn't try the food. The pins were a little fickle, but it was all in good fun

This bowling center in Newton is a gem. It's clean, well run and the staff is very helpful and friendly. We brought our grandchildren to bowl and they had a wonderful experience. The family rate on Sunday is a great bargain. I highly recommend this business. It's well worth the drive from Wichita to bowl at reasonable prices at a great facility. I would recommend that you call ahead to reserve a lane because it is not a huge bowling alley and seems to be very popular.

give zero stars I would have.I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at Eastgate Lanes on September 7th 2024 . I visited your establishment to celebrate my son's 9th birthday with a group of five children. Upon arrival, I informed the staff member at the register that we wanted to take advantage of the special offer for a birthday party, which included one hour of bowling for five people for $30. The staff member confirmed that we did not need a reservation, to maybe just call the next time we come in but he can get us on a lane no problem. After we settled in and placed a food order, the rest of our party arrived. My son's aunt, who owns a local cupcake company, surprised him with approximately 11 Pokémon cupcakes as a gift.Unfortunately, the owner of Eastgate Lanes, a female, approached us and informed us that my son was not permitted to open his gifts or enjoy the cupcakes because we had not informed the establishment in advance that it was a birthday party. She stated that this information was available on the website and that I should have been aware of it. Myself not being from Newton had no idea of this policy or that this small bowling ally even had a website.I explained that I was unaware that we needed to provide prior notice for a birthday celebration, especially considering the small number of cupcakes involved. The owner responded rudely, asking if I would simply bring cupcakes to any establishment without permission. She then threatened to evict us from the premises when I asked a simple question. But what upset me the most is she REFUSED my 9 year old son to open the two gifts he received from his friends. Let alone let him enjoy his cupcakes that his aunt ( also a business owner ) made special for him.I believe that the owner's behavior was unprofessional and unreasonable. We had already spent a significant amount of money on bowling and food, and the cupcakes were a small, personal gesture for my son's birthday let alone let him open his two presents.Subsequently, the individual who had previously assisted us at the registration counter, and had granted us permission to utilize the bowling alley for a birthday celebration, proceeded to engage in an argument with the children, reprimanding them for minor actions. One instance of this occurred when my son and his friend were simultaneously standing on the hardwood flooring near the computer, which did not warrant such a discourteous response. As a business owner myself I know first hand how to treat customers with respect. If you had an issue with me you should have came to us nicely and explained the situation and I would have apologized and told you what happened with your employee instead of being extremely rude to the point of wanting everyone to leave your establishment. As a business owner, it is essential to maintain a professional demeanor and avoid raising one's voice or speaking to customers in a disrespectful manner shouldn't ever be tolerated or even be considered okay. We will not be returning and will be telling everyone about our experience today.
