Dodge House Hotel & Convention Center

We sometimes like to go off the beaten path and try local hotels. This was one of those times. We found what seemed like a nice hotel, through Expedia. We walked in and thought...well this is going to be an experience. (Not in a good way.) We're pretty resilient, and thought we'd make the best of it. It's only a place to sleep, after all. The odor as we walked to our room was disgusting. Sort of a combination of cleaning solution and urine. The pictures attached don't even show how awful it was. On top of all this the young man at the desk clearly wished he were somewhere else. We decided that we just couldn't stay. He said ok, but since we booked through Expedia we had to deal with them to get a refund. We didn't even care. We just wanted to leave and consider it a lesson learned. This place should be shut down, or at the very least, NOT supported by travel advisors like Expedia.

I don't know why there are so many bad reviews. For the price, its fine. Internet works great, Mallory at the front desk was lovely, Its old but fine. Cool decor. Its for sure old but the AC is cold and our room was clean, albeit, worn . Great place if you have kids. Lots

horrendous unsafe, dishonest, unhygienic hotel with unscrupulous practices. 1) Their "security" doors are locked by boards tied with twine to prevent entry. 2) exterior lights many out or flickering 3) bed bugs. Bed. Bugs. 3) Will not refund your charges once you discover they're infested and flee the premises 4) falsely report you as present and staying in room even though you check out. 5) Numerous noise and cleanliness issues. I had to step over trash and discarded clothing items on the stairs to get to the room I turned around and fled. I travel a lot and this is by far the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. I would rather go back to a youth hostel in Europe or sleep in my car.

This old hotel is pretty cool. I've stayed here twice. Most recent stay was the best. It's under new ownership or maybe just new management. They are remodelling still but hot tub & pool were open, exercise room still closed for renovations, room was spacious and clean. Blanket on the bed is super soft. Pillows are tolerable. Bed is decent. Bathroom was clean but could use a couple minor improvements, shower head okay, aging surround had a tiny bit of mold and patches but not bad. The history, antique stuff, and ambiance was great and the staff was very helpful, polite, attentive and always made sure everything was good for our stay. Restaurant opens at 8 or 9 in the morning. No free breakfast but for the price, I don't expect it.Keep up the improvements y'all. It's a good place to stay.

Found cockroaches in our room and went to another room shower and AC didn't work. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed for i don't know how long. Pee stains on the toilet. The Manager handled the situation horribly. I would absolutely not suggest anyone to experience this like we had too. Will not refund any of it very rude customer service. Manager made derogatory remarks to my kids for not wanting to put up with the bugs. Very rude save your time and go stay elsewhere.

Upon arriving 1 hour after check-in, we went to the room 835 and wasn't ready. We were told it will be in 30 minutes. We left and returned 1 hour later and still not ready. The lady was nice but kept getting interrupted by the older rude man. He barked "switch them to room 853". Upon entering the room, it wasn't the same type of room, smaller. The sink so small no room to even sit down your toothbrush. The paint was peeling, TV didn't work, so attempted to call office, telephone didn't work. The hotel is run down and outdated. Went to office, again, guy barked, telephone will be fixed in a week. We were only staying 2 days. Threw a business card at us and said you can call the desk. REALLY!!! Couldn't have told us that before. The lady said she would come look at the TV. She couldn't fix it and said she would have someone fix it. After waiting an hour, we went to the front desk. The guy said he would be down in a bit. After again waiting an hour, we went to the desk. The guy kept ignoring me and helping other male guests. The guy barked, "I be down when I get to it!!!" We advised it has been over 2 hours, it is midnight, we can't wait up for hours waiting on him. He got irate because people were leaving hearing about our troubles. So he finally came and fixed it. The next day, when we returned, our door key wouldn't work. A couple of other guests stating they were having the same problems with their room and staff. We went to get new keys and he again barked, "I fixed your room and your keys worked. What else do you want?" We advised others were having the same problem. He made new keys. Upon checking out, the guy advised the owner was there if I wanted to speak with him. I said yes and how long will it be? He said 15 to 30 minutes. I advised I don't have that long. I loaded the car and went back, he arrived. While stating my issues, the guy kept interrupting me. The owner just said ok and that's it. Neither the guy or owner was concerned about us or our experience. Both of them are male chauvinists. I highly recommend staying someone where else.

price is reasonable if you're caught in a bind and need a place to stay in dodge city as we did. The first room we had was under repair when we got to it, imagine the surprised look on everyone's faces as we walk up to the open room door and see a bunch of people meandering around the room. We were allowed to wait as they finished. My husband used the restroom and soon found out that the toilet was broken, so they moved us to another room. They were awesome and up graded us to a suite...with 2 rooms! Upon entering the new room we were quickly met with a musky odor and dim lighting with outlet covers haphazardly slapped on. The bed was nicely made with sharp corners which I did appreciate. The shower was clean but beware you'll have to catch the soap as it slides off the shelf ( pretty sure nothing in the building is square) and the toilet wasn't bolted all the way down The water was soon over the ankles and didn't go anywhere as it was still just as full when we checked out the next morning. I wish I had gotten more pictures because I just cant describe the unique atmosphere of the facility. there just aren't words for it. if you're looking for something to do they have a hot tube with bubbles, basketball hoop, ping pong table, volley ball, pool and an arcade all inside!!!

This was the worst place I've ever stayed and I've stayed in a motel we here a guy shot his wife. It's so gross. There is mold in the shower and scuffs all over the walls. There was a dead bug and the bathroom definitely was not cleaned before we got here. If I could rate zero I would. Also Linda was kinda rude.

This place is terrible and the people who run it are worse!!!!! The rooms are run-down and they charged us for 2 nights when we stayed 1 night. Called to get some money back and the lady was beyond RUDE! We hung up the phone and plan to deny the whole charge. NEVER STAY AT THIS PLACE!!!
