Disclaimer I've made many times: I rate on experience and how a place makes me feel. Is this place perfect? No. It's an older spot that you can tell the owners have tried to update as best they can. It's not fancy and you can't control the temp in the room because there is a central thermostat somewhere. That being said, my room was comfortable. Not too hot or too cold. And j like that there is a ceiling fan for air movement. The bathroom isn't the cleanest I've ever seen in my life, but it's good enough. The drain is slow, but the water pressure is good and the water is hot.The bed is basic. A little stiff more me, but fine enough.A 30-something inch flat screen, microwave, and fridge. Small coffee maker.68 dollars a night! The owner was nice as could be. My interaction with him was super pleasant.I'm pretty sure this is the only place to stay in Abilene. I'm passing through to check out the Eisenhower museum.I'm glad I stopped at this little retro spot.Edit: there are a couple more places to stay. And one holiday inn. But I'm still glad I supported this business.

We were here for my birthday roadtrip. I love this little, sweet town but the choices of places to stay is sparse. The Diamond takes you back to that small town 1950's motor lodge you see in movies. Unfortunately it's in need of upkeep. The tub was very gross, we chose not to shower. The bed like the room was clean but so lumpy and uncomfortable. There are not a lot of plug in choices when both partners want to charge multiple items and one need to plug in their Cpap machine. Lighting upgrade would also be good. But overall if you don't want to drive 20 miles down I-70, you want to stay the night in town this will absolutely do. Thanks & safe travels!

We stay at the Diamond about three times a year. Remember that family vacation back around 1980 or so? That is what this motel looks like from the outside. Inside, you'll find flat screen tv's with direct tv, a small fridge, and a microwave. Remember what customer service was like back then? You'll get that, too. Patrick has been wonderful every time I've been there. Plenty of hot water (try finding that in a newer motel) and pet friendly too!

Stopped here for the night on our way to California Great service, clean room, cheap rates. Family owned and operated. Continental breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

My review is based off of what I'm getting for a cheap hotel. This does not mean I think it's a 4-star quality hotel. This place is great for anyone wanting a cheap hotel stay. The receptionist was very friendly and quick. The rooms are small, but cleaner then most cheap hotels. Bed and pillows are average but expectations weren't high anyways.

I am a little high maintenance when it comes to hotels, especially how clean they are. I usually avoid showering in hotels if possible. I booked this hotel as we were driving through Kansas, and decided we were too tired to continue. When I saw the price, I thought it would be a disgusting place, but it was the only hotel I could find with vacancies. The guy at the front desk was one of the nicest most genuine people I have ever met. The room, while "older" was extremely clean and in good shape. We called and told the front desk that it was hot in our room (central air) and he immediately turned the air down. For the price there is nothing better. I have stayed in expensive hotels and would stay here to save the money. They also offered a continental breakfast. Awesome.

It's off the beaten path and feels like it fell out of a time warp from an earlier era. The rooms are small, decidedly not fancy, but clean and inexpensive. As a place to find a room to sleep, it's entirely acceptable.

If you need a place to stay the night and don't want to spend a lot, this place is adequate. I was stuck in a snowstorm in Abilene, so this was not a place I would have picked otherwise, but options were limited. This is an old school motel probably built in the 1950s, so temper your expectations. The room did have modern furniture and carpet, a small flat screen, satellite TV, and a decent bed. Walls were paper thin and you could easily hear the neighbors (especially the plumbing), but I was not surprised by the noise given the age of this establishment. The water pressure in the shower was great, but that's about the only positive I can say about the bathroom. The bathroom was very small and dilapidated. The bath tub/shower drain area was pretty gunky and did not drain properly. Likewise, the sink did not even have a drain stopper and the overflow drain area was rusted and gross. The bathroom did not have an exhaust fan (although the rusty remnants of one were above the shower). The toilet was very small. Even the metal around the inset Kleenex holder in the wall was rusty. The top of the light fixture in the bathroom carried about a half inch of dust, as did the ceiling fan blades in the main room, but otherwise the room seemed fairly clean other than the accumulated grime in the bathroom. I did notice some small ink stains or something similar on the white sheets, but they definitely had been washed and were clean. The management was very nice at check in and I felt good supporting a local business and not a large motel chain. Overall, this place was cheap (about $70/night including tax) and clean/safe enough that I can recommend it for a decent night's rest.

I'd rate it less if possible. Just looking for a reasonable price for a place to sleep on a long trip coming and going from Colorado to Kansas City. Got in late on the 26th of June. Room was hot, took 4 hrs to cool down. Dirty dishes in the sink. Bugs on the floor of the bathroom. Shower was disgusting. Too late to go somewhere else after a 7 hr drive. Paid upfront for two days (mistake). Low expectations on the 2nd night. Was rewarded upon a midnight arrival to find key card wouldn't work. Owner was at the front desk and said his staff gave me the wrong room. OK, not my fault. Wanted me to pay the difference. I said "for a hot room with dirty dishes"? I said no thanks, I'll just dispute the charge and leave. He should have been apologetic for the poor room condition. Packed up the family at which point he wanted to negotiate. He opened the room so at least I got my drink back. I pointed out all the problems to include the dust bunny snow fall from the ceiling fan and he still wanted me to pay for the "suite". I should have taken pictures and checked out the room before paying. Lesson learned. At least I didn't find bed bugs. The beds were acceptable, old room, rusted sink. Rusty water initially coming out of pipes. Very little cold air coming out of vents. Intake air vent covered with dust. He said they rent it out to hunters. Great excuse. Blame it on hunters and staff. Take no ownership or pride in your establishment. DON'T STAY HERE.

Not happy with my stay. I was in town for a wedding and needed someplace to sleep. No control over the room temperature. Half of the bulbs in the room were out. Floor vent in the bathroom was full of dirt and hair and trash. Hair in the sink upon entering the room. The thing that made me mad was I booked the room online and they tried to overcharge me when I arrived. Never going back!!!
