This little theatre is a hidden gem. It is by no means plush or fancy, but it serves its purpose. When you enter, you buy both your ticket and your snacks at the counter. Pick your seat when you get in, there are no reserved seats. The movie choices are up to the current standard. The screens are adequate, no frills viewing. Prices for snacks and tickets are decent. They keep the place clean cool for comfortable viewing.

I really like this small local feeling cinema. I have only been here twice and the first time (Godzilla vs Kong was on), the sound system was messed up because a whole channel was muffled. The second time the audio was nice and clean. The Chairs are ok, the image is bright, and the atmosphere is inviting. They need to clean up the restrooms and remove the graffittis because it make it look ghettooey. If they make everything pristine, it will be a good alternative to the other theaters in the area. (Update- the L to R balance in the auditorium showing Expendibles is way off. And they need to add subwoofers. Weak bass. Hire a sound person to tune the sound systems.)

This place was very rundown, but the matinee tickets are only $6.00. I believe the chair was broken that I sat in because it made a noise every time I moved. The staff was nice and polite. My major complaint was a ordered a pizza for my nephew. It was a small little microwave one, but they didn't cut it or give me a knife or fork. They said they didn't have them. He is 5. So, I would suggest some upgrades to the seats and some cutlery available for the piece or if the worker could cut it, that would be great.

Hometown theatre with nice, attentive service and great prices. Theatre seats are comfy, great popcorn, always have the latest on the screen.

I know it is small but this place is family owned and, in my opinion, they are doing a great job. If you are looking for the Warren then by all means go to the Warren, but if you are looking for less crowds, great popcorn, and a good movie, Derby Plaza Theatre is your place!! I am thankful they are here.....saves me gas!! :)

First off - ticket prices are only one dollar cheaper than the Warren and for such little savings it's not worth coming here. You buy your tickets at the concession counter with your snacks which is a bit confusing as they have a separate ticket window. The theaters are small with cheap seats and the sound systems are from yesteryear. Screens are small with the picture sometimes off center and fuzzy. Unless you're stuck in Derby go somewhere else.

A slightly cheaper 3D movie option within a reasonable driving distance from Wichita. Honestly, since Bill Warren has driven all competition out of city limits, it's nice to know you can catch most of the current blockbusters with a 15-minute drive south for a buck or two cheaper. Although with gas prices what they are, it's probably a wash. The theaters are clean and well-run, the owner is friendly, the "pre-show" ads-n-entertainment projected on the screen are charmingly quirky, and the projection quality is comparable to Bill Warren's theaters. The concession stand prices, unfortunately, are also comparable to the Warren chain. I will NEVER pay $4-$5 for a few cents-worth of popcorn. Captive audience be darned, if I can't go 2 hours without eating I should just stay home. (And the Quik Trip a block down from the theater sells the same boxed movie candy for dollars less...)

This is not a luxury movie theatre, this is a very convenient, you have a lot of kids and don't want to pay $20 per ticket movie theatre. It's nice for big families wanting to save a money and local for those living in Derby.

Drove all the way across the city to see a 9:50PM movie on a Thursday night... people still inside cleaning, but they had closed. Thought maybe my app time was wrong... but their time on their board showed the same time... what a waste of an evening.

We love this theater. It's always clean, we've always had great service there and it's much more affordable than going to the big chain theaters. Even better they sell Pepsi products and the popcorn is always fresh.
