Rude Older man working front end. I called a week and spoke to lady that told me that we were welcome to bring in our own birthday cake. I explained we did not want to book the birthday party package because there was only 3 kids. She said it was fine that we could come on in that it would be fine. When we arrived we had a very small cake the guy asked if we had a bid party package and I said no. Then he said we could not bring in a cake, we had to get it from them. I had never heard that before nor did I know they even made cakes. So that being said we left and went to a different bowling ally. So not only did they upset a little they have lost our business and that's to bad. They used to be a very friendly family business but they showed us today that no longer exist!!

As a resident of Derby, I appreciate local businesses. But as soon as I walked through the door of the Derby bowling alley, Aug. 26 of 2018, I was immediately met by an angry manager who began yelling toward me and my group of peers. P.s. I am a grown adult, not a child. I was so shocked that I first thought he must've been speaking to someone behind me, someone far away. After realizing how unbelievably rude this guy was, we decided to leave. . . after all, this was completely unprovoked. The institution may be great, as a bowling alley. But that single manager offset my attitude, ruining the chance of earning my business ever again.I will never go to the Derby bowling alley again, ever. The manager's instant aggression and heavy tone was just absolutely uncalled for.

This place is the armpit of bowling alleys. Rude staff and stupid rules. They have a "height" rule for their lane bumpers, so they don't get broken, so if you want lane bumpers you have to be with a short kid...but then everyone has to have the bumpers because they cannot be programmed for each bowler. That being said, I took my 13 year old daughter and her friends and they weren't allowed to have the bumpers, I didn't bowl. However, on both sides of us, with adults bowling, they were allowed to use the bumpers because they had one small child in each group. And yes, the adults bowled with the bumpers! I guess the guy in lane 22, who looked like he could bench press a car isn't going to break the bumpers, but my 13 year old will. We will never return here for any reason.
