Daybreak Cafe

Fairly new breakfast, lunch restaurant in Hutchison, located in the Amtrak train station. Arrived at 11 o'clock with 12 people, and no reservation on a Sunday. Surprisingly, within a few minutes, they were able to seat us all... in-spite of the fact they were virtually full.The ambience was very comfortable, as there are large windows with lots of light coming in. You can look out and see where the trains will pull up, when they're here. It's an interesting place, located in the center of Hutchinson. Most everybody ordered breakfast items, to include omelettes. One ordered the hamburger, and several or the Reuben sandwich. Everybody's portions seems very large! Especially the hamburger. You definitely get a lot of food for your dollar... Absolutely worth the value! Considering there were 12 people, the food came out, reasonably quickly. Hot and well prepared. I'm not sure I can fairly rate the table service, as I feel like our waitress was overwhelmed. It's a definite come back and see they're only open until around 2 PM in the afternoon, but open up early between 630 and 7 AM.

Excellent food every time! The green pork chili is almost as good as my dear mother in law's. Nice staff and usually pretty fast service. Busy and quaint atmosphere, in an old train station

Being housed in the train station made this charming restaurant so nostalgic. During my childhood we made many trips here and through here. The food was so good. Everything was fresh with high quality ingredients. The service from Jennifer 1 and Jennifer 2 was so personable and efficient. When I asked their names, they asked ours and repeatedly used ours. Even greeting us by name as we left. Such a pleasant experience with my 96 year old Mom, who ate on her meal for the next three meals!

Great food and excellent service! Your coffee cup is never empty! It is fun to see this old building getting used. It is fun to imagine what it was like when train travel was more common.
