My brother, his girlfriend and my husband and I attended Rocky Horror Live. The whole experience was a blast. Venue: The venue is amazing. Big, bold and brash... the way a theater should be. The space is huge and the decor has been restored. The theater is set up with large and small dining/seating areas; bar in the back; buffet in the back. We went for the front row seats... or the splash zone as I like to call it. You are really in the middle of the action here. Service: checking in was a breeze. We bought out tickets on line and went for the early show. They offered their own party/pleasure pack for this event. $5 gets you a bag of props and instructions: bubbles, TP, boa, playing cards, newspaper etc. Our server was quick and polite. Food and Drink: it was a carb heavy buffet, but everything was pretty good: bow tie pasta, mac and cheese, meatloaf--- get it?... they all had themed names for the dishes, but I'm not that clever in remembering them. Dessert selection was huge with the apple pie being the best. The drinks were very strong and again had theme names. Performance: The production of Rocky Horror was the highlight. Dinner theater gets a bad wrap. We were all very impressed with the cast. Brad "A*******" and Janet "S***" really shined. But the star was Frank N. Furter. Really an outstanding performance. I can't say enough. He owned the role and gave Tim Curry a run for his money. Having seen this live, I have a whole new respect for any performer that sings and dances in 6 inch heals, fishnets and a corset for 2 hours. The Emcee was pretty tame to all the virgins. The crowd was a bit mellow, but again we went to the early show. So if you are in town and are looking for an experience, this place is highly recommended.

IFood needs some work. Just short of acceptable. Otherwise everything is ok.ve been here two times and find it to be an ok evening of entertainment. The staff is fantastic. Im waiting for them to bring the level of food and acting up to that level.

I was here for the first night of Sweeney Todd. The show itself was cool. They don't have a buffet anymore (which I miss) but the food wasn't too bad. We got to choose between three main dishes and we also got a salad and soup. I like how the food options matched the show (meat pie).

Went here Thanksgiving weekend. It was a Saturday night and I was expecting a sold out crowd. Is it the economy or just not December yet? The Christmas musical was showing and we dressed a little nice for the evening out. Maybe a little too nice, ha! Jeans seem to be the norm around here but we took my man's 14 yr old out and treated her to a day of primping and a nice dressy evening out.Granted it's a buffet, but it wasn't so bad...holiday fixings galore! Keep in mind they charge extra for dessert but overall its a good deal. The entertainment was a pleasant surprise, I was smiling and laughing throughout.Nice for a fun night out in Wichita.

Recently went to the dinner theater with my boyfriend and his sister and brother-in law for their production of "The Rocky Horror Show." This was not my first time at the dinner theater, I had been once before a few years ago. First off, the food was delicious! They had a buffet style dinner, and upon checking in they gave us tickets in two different colors red for dinner blue for dessert. We got to go through the dinner line twice and the dessert line once. Most of us only went through the dinner line once just because there was so much to choose from and it was all good so we ended up eating alot. Dessert, for the most part, was good as well. The atmosphere of the theater was wonderful as well, the staff was very friendly and helped us find our seats and answered any questions we had. The show was absolutely wonderful. I have seen productions in Wichita that were Broadway production, and this was every bit as good! It was an interactive show which was a lot of fun. I honestly wish that the show was longer, it was that good of a time. Can't wait to see another production the cast preformed wonderfully and it was a great experience.

Funny - only three reviews, and Toonces and I came on the same night! I was visiting town with my family for Thanksgiving weekend and for my birthday the whole gang went to the Crown-Uptown for a holiday comedy show. It was so fun - the buffet was much better than the Hilton hotel buffet the night before, and the desserts were absolutely phenomenal. The show was super fun - some quality music and some hilarious comedy (with a couple of awkward moments thrown in). I highly recommend this for a family activity!

To celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary tonight we went to the Crown Uptown "Dinner"Theater...well the theater, the performances, the performers were amazing and fantastic, but the dinner...nope! As for what to say about the dinner, (I use that term loosely) my mother told me if I didn't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all! Well...I don't listen to my mother. First, the buffet was served to you only after standing in a line that wrapped around the theater like you were standing in line in a prison or a sad cafeteria, except the food and service at the Crown was worse. The "meal" started with some over cooked mystery meat and a dried up piece of chicken meat (not sure what part of the chicken it was) some mushy vegetables that had the piss cooked out of them, some mashed potatoes that tasted like paste, a cold roll w/cold butter and a salad, no wait...it was just lettuce. To top it all off...it was served on a paper plate. And not one of the the "good" paper plates, one of the plates that can't hold much food without collapsing. But that's ok, because the serving was minimal at best. We only were able to eat part of the "food" and ended up throwing it out in the convenient trash cans spread out around the theater. The show was fantastic and we really enjoyed the performances. The talent of the singing and dancing was very impressive. While we sat in the front row, there didn't appear to be a bad seat in the house. Well, except for the seats on the far left side of the theater, where everyone stands in line to get the incredibly bad meal. If you have seat in this section you will have people standing all around you before the show starts. The bar was quick and attentive with the ability to order from your seat before the show starts and at intermission. They should have more of the food listed on the menu available, but then people would forgo the "dinner". Believe me a frozen pizza, a pretzel or some popcorn from the bar would have been better. My advice to Max Wilson and the other leadership of the theater, you have a GREAT group of performers, shows, venue and volunteers, but you MUST find a better caterer! If you need to, charge a little more and improve the dinning experience that's ok. It would be worth it to complete the experience. That all said, we will be back to see a show, maybe even Elvis in January, but it won't be for dinner. 5 stars for the performances and performers, but 0 stars for the food!

First of all, the buffet was delicious so purchasing a ticket with a meal is important. There are appetizers like hummus or desserts such as cheesecake available for purchase off the menu. Foods and drinks (full bar with lots of fancy drinks) can be purchased off the menu using a QR code so you don't have to leave your seat. The booths are comfortable and provide great views!!! The staff is courteous and the set is professional. Last but not least, the performers truly steal the show with their voices, dance choreography, and backgrounds. It is truly a magnificent way to entire families during the holidays or special occasions.

Better than any of the movie theaters in wichita. The crown uptown provides a great date experience. Without having to go to a bar and drink. There is the option for cocktails and even a meal. The real draw for me is the live performance. A unique experience for every show. The quality of which is never lacking. I will be going agian and agian so that we dont lose this treasure.

My review is for the show F*sh. Worst/Depressing show I have ever seen. Wold not recommend anyone to go see. First there was only stage lighting, no mic's and even when they turned on the music record player, you could not hear it. I have good hearing and sat in the middle second tier section. The Aminal Cruility joke and glorifying the KKK was not appreicated. The writter should rework those scenes. Now as for the Crown-Uptown Dinner Theatre - I would give it 5 stars. The ticket person was nice and had a good sense of humor. Sat in the middle section/middle tier. Inside was clean and well organized. Good atmosphere. Wait was was polite and attentive. We tried all the appetizers. Port slidder, Turkey potpie, chicked lettuce cups and bruschetta. Pricing was good and they were all delicious.
