Catered a lunch & learn at a local engineering firm from these guys. I was the presenter so I didn't get to savor my food but I was really happy they had a combo sandwich for me. I ordered their Big Memphis sandwich - a nice sized pile of brisket, turkey and pulled pork on a butter-toasted bun.The meats were obviously the star of the show. I attacked it with a fork as I had very little time to eat during my introduction. The brisket was on top and got eaten first. Tender, juicy, smoky - delicious! The same could be said for the turkey that was poking out from under the brisket. Turkey breast can be difficult to get right but they nailed it. No dry, dusty bird here. The pulled pork was at the bottom of the pile of meat but that didn't bother me when I finally got to it after speaking. As good as the smoked meat was under less than ideal conditions, I can imagine it's even better when consumed immediate on their premises.

I stopped by for a quick drive-through snack, Memphis Nachos with BBQ Chicken. I've never had them before and they were ok. I am a bit picky and I thought it'd be a safe bet. Meat was ok, but I found their baked beans to be very mediocre. I'd recommend that Cox Bros offer their pineapple coleslaw as a substitute for the beans. It would lighten the dish and make it much more enjoyable for the summer months when beans, meat, and cheese is a just heavy and hot. I'd probably also get it with no cheese. Idk if they use mozzarella or if it was a jack cheddar mix, but the first few bites gave me a pizza vibe, which is not great when you're expecting barbecue. In any case, I like this place overall, but this experience in particular was just ok, but at least I'm not starving anymore!

I always love hitting up BBQ joints when travelling outside of Kansas City, so i knew I had to check out Cox Bros. when a buddy and I went to Manhattan for a concert last weekend. I don't know how long this place has been in business because when I asked the cashier he had no idea, but did tell me that it is no longer owned by the Cox family. Whoever owns it is doing a respectable job at delivering up a quality product for the northern Flint Hills. I ordered the 3 meat platter that included 2 sides. Way too much food for one person! I went with the Texas Sausage, St. Louis style ribs, and Smoke Stack (their version of burnt ends); and baked beans and Sidewinder cheese fries and 4 sauces on the side. I love that they don't use the term "burnt ends" as many places do when they are not actually selling true burnt ends. All 3 meats were smoked well, tender, and plentiful. The fries were spiral sliced potatoes and loaded with everything in the kitchen - a meal in itself. The beans were very flavorful but were mushy, like they had been sitting in a cooker way too long - my only criticism of the experience. For $18.50 it was a bargain, yet way too much for someone from out of town that was unable to take a doggy bag. Although not breaking my top tier for BBQ I've had outside KC, it was a solid offering and would eagerly return anytime life brings me back to MHK in the future.

Outside looks nice, the smells makes you want to order everything on the menu. Food was great except for the baked potato.Wasn't really a good "feel" in the sit in portion of the restaurant. We have driven through and ordered brisket by the pound. It's a little high but it's delicious.

I love burnt ends but NOT theirs. Was staying in downtown Manhattan and Googled nearby BBQ. Not busy. Ordered a burnt ends platter with smokehouse beans and Cole slaw. There was an unmistakable taste of CHARCOAL LIGHTER FLUID in my burnt ends. What's the excuse???? Tell you what, I will never go there again! Lighter fluid taste is for amateurs!!!

Had their chicken wrap special Saturday. I guess the special means they nearly skip the chicken. After I took a few bites I opened the wrap up and could only find about 5 very small cubes of chicken. Disappointing for a place that specializes in selling meat dishes.

Very disappointed and some of the worst BBQ I've had in a long time. Next to no smoke flavor on any of the meat. Everything was bland. The brisket was so dry and had no smoke ring, it tasted like an overcooked roast. Pulled pork was bland also. The chicken is swimming in a not so great sauce that reminded me of crock pot chicken. Nothing we tried was very good
